Cross pollinating

I'm going to have a go at producing some males so I can collect the pollen. I have 2 different strains and am curious about cross pollinating them. If I pollinate Girl strain A from Boy strain B and pollinate Girl strain B from Boy strain A, will the resulting plants be pretty much the same?

They should be pretty much the same. Grow out a few from one batch and a few from the other, making sure to label everything correctly from the start and let us know what your results were.

@Busternutt (lol nice name) there's a lot of factors here that I would take into consideration. In general id say @blueberryrose is correct, they would be mostly the same - however, either plant of either strain could be carrying different traits depending on some other factors like what generation and phenotypes. This is why/where breeding gets fun in my opinion. Either cross can show different traits again depending on the starting genetics and really some very unique - one of a kind - expressions could be seen in both. So with that said, have fun experimenting because that all life really is.

oh shit also, pollen sucks ass. its hard to deal with, especially for people with allergies, try not to over do it, shits MAD.

Lol, noted

It's easy to cross pollinate just to produce seed but if you want to breed you need a goal and you need to make a concerted effort to not have multiple phenotypes at the end of the day. Until the breeding is predictable and the results are repeatable naming anything is premature. It's hard work and requires a lot of record keeping. I've tried and given up after a few attempts because i wasn't getting anywhere I wanted to be and had a couple of hermies destroy a grow. These days i let others do the breeding. They breed and i grow hoping they did a good job

My question was more curiosity and whether the male or female properties of the plant brought more to the table. I'll be happy to get viable seeds when I pollinate A from A and B from B

Females contribute more to the genetic profile of progeny as they contribute the X haploid chromosome. Cannabis is a diploid plant thus it has 2 sets of chromosomes either XX or XY.

You can also inbreed to get more genetic material from a parent plant. I.e. if you are not getting a particular trait from the parents. backcross until you see it expressed.
