Just wondering about it:

I know you can cure - but I'm thinking of stashing my buds away for occaisional use, do you REALLY need to keep opening the jar? What happens if you just hang-dry then jar up/store without curing them? Would they just go bad and rot/mold?

the purpose for opening the jar is to make sure your buds arent "sweating" if they do they will develop mold on them, it's not really curing them, curing is after your sure all the moisture is gone, seal them up & throw them in the freezer, thats what the curing process is about. Does that sound right to everyone?

I NEVER put my buds in the freezer cause I am afraid of mold but thats just me. However, the longer you "cure" your buds the better the taste. I have buds that have been in the jar for 1-2 years and I swear it tastes better the longer you leave it alone. I have been shocked at how good it tastes after such a long time.

As has been stated you don't NEED to cure but it will improve the taste dramatically the longer you cure, up to a point of course.

What you are talking about with opening the jar is still the drying phase. You're letting the moisture from the inside of the bud to get out without drying the outer bud all to hell.

once you dry your nugs it isn't essential to cure the bud but as previously stated it will smooth out the nugs. I cured some herb for around 6 weeks and all of a sudden it started to take on a slighty sweet citrus taste. I highly recomend you cure the nugs, there is no comparison between the taste of freshly dried nugs to properly cured herb.
