Dee's Area51 LED Multi-Strain Grow

Hello everyone and welcome to my very first grow. I have been awaiting an opportunity to grow for many years now and the time has finally arrived. This setup is the result of months worth of research and planning and was finally completed just a couple of weeks ago. I'm looking forward to documenting this grow for the benefit of both myself and (hopefully) my fellow novice growers of the RIU community.

So here is a run down of how this is going down:
- Tent: 4x4x8 Gorilla Grow Tent
- Lights: 2 Area51 SGS-160's
- Air Circulation: 6" 3-speed Max Fan for exaust and two 6" passive intakes.
- Medium: 2:1 FFOF:FFLW mix, added perlite, and 1 cup/cu. ft. of dolomite lime.
- Nutrients/Supplements: Jack's Classic Duo, Dyna Gro Protekt, Botanicare Aquashield, and Dyna Gro Neem Oil

So far, outside of RO water, the plants have only had 1/4 tsp/gal of Protekt for 1 watering. I will start the Jack's Classic at 1/4 strength around week 3 or 4.

The plan is to veg the girls out (20/4 schedule) for exactly 4 weeks and to flower until they are ripe and ready. At day 18 of veg I will top the plants directly above the second node and veg them out for an additional 10 days before flipping to 12/12.

As previously stated, this will be my very first grow. Although I have spent countless hours on these forums reading and following the journals of some great growers, I know some lessons must be learned first-hand through experience. With that being said, I'm confident this will be a grow worth watching so go ahead and follow along. I'm open to any advice and questions.

The stains I will be running are:
- 1 Dinafem Power Kush
- 2 Female Seeds Iced Widow
- 2 Female Seeds Pure Ak
- 1 Female Seeds Bubblegummer
- 1 Northern Lights x Chronic freebie from Sea of Seeds

Upon the arrival of the beans, I planted them straight into a solo cup with a 2:1 FFLW:FFOF mix. 8/8 broke soil within 4 days and although I had originally planned to grow out 6, I ended up transplanting 7. So we have 6 in 3 gallon Smart Pots and 1 in a 5 gallon Smart Pot.

And here they are. Happy as ever and in their final homes. The two middle pictures are them as of today, 13 days since breaking soil.

You're off to a great start

Don't over water

Do your A51s have a switch to add red diodes during flower?

I prefer dropping to 14/10 then 12/12 for a short time, then 11/13 and finally 10/14

Hey man thanks for dropping by.

I know over-watering causes a lot of problems for newer growers. And although I think I over-watered the plants while they were in the solo cups, I think I have a better feel for when there in need of a watering now that they are in the Smart Pots. It's been 3 days since their last watering as of today.

Yes, the red diodes turn on during the flowering mode.

And I will definitely consider implementing a transition period from veg to flower for future grows. Just trying to keep things simple for the first one.

Yesterday was the plants 18th day above ground. I am still aiming for 4 main colas on each plant but will do so with a slight variation to UB's topping method. I topped each plant directly above the third node yesterday and will remove the branches at the first node of each plant on day 24. Another week from there before the switch to 12/12. I have seen this done with excellent results.

So here they are as of yesterday just a few minutes after being topped.
