Disappointed by the shops

So I've been making the at least 2 hour drive up to DC to visit the rec shops, I received some AK-47 from a shop that labels it as "premium" tier which is a step below their top shelf "exotic" tier. I quickly realized that although its not *bad* the smell and taste could be way better. Almost like it wasn't cured for very long, kinda grassy. Which for 75/eighth I am not pleased with.

The other shop I've been to has "exotic" eighths for $10 less and it's literally twice as potent, however their menu is small and most of their stuff is named after ice cream flavors and candy, which I personally dont like. (Gelato, Runtz etc) I got lucky with some *fire* Alien OG the one time I went up there lol. I really don't want to pay $125 for 5 grams at the first shop just to get a classic strain I've always wanted to try and I don't have a med card yet.

I don't know, it's just disappointing right now.

Where are you with prices like that? Ive been paying alittle extra for some texas shoreline at 60 an eighth here in ma.. before tax
The regular stuff is 50/55, shake is a bit cheaper.

The surprise of the legal market is that it is not a price/quality driven market. More expensive does not mean better anymore.

Brand-driven cannabis is the game and they charge for their brand, not the quality of the product.

In many if not most of my visits to stores, the expensive options were inferior! Often it is all priced similarly and the budtenders dont know or care to tell you what are the best options.

There are way better deals up there from the many delivery services. Just do some research on Where's Weed and they will deliver to your car in a public place like a grocery store parking lot or a Starbucks. I haven't used one in a long time but I used to. My son lives in DC and gets 150 dollar zips of outdoor like Blue Dream delivered to the house. The really good indoor ranges from 350-550 an ounce but can be hit or miss depending on the service. I know he uses Green Sundaes and Capital Kush a lot. Hope this gives you some options.

See I live in 804 and I saw a delivery that looked great but I wasn't sure if I had to be a resident in the area or not

I don't really know or trust any people around here and the people I did know I've lost contact with.

Can't wait to start up my legal 4 plants.... I've got some plans for the future, you'll see ;)

D.C. shop but I live in 804VA. So it's frustrating making that shitty drive to get shit service. . We just legalized and we're allowed 4 plants but I have got around to that just yet. I want to grow for quality, not quantity like these shops so it'll be a while ($$$!)
I'm just trying to find some safe smoke in the meantime.

Nope, I live in VA too and gave them a VA driver's license no problem. You don't need a medical card either. DC is legal for recreational possession and the delivery companies get around the sales law by using a gifting policy that is a gray area or just outright ignore it. The ones I listed are legit but there are some shady ones for sure. Just be sure to meet in a safe place and check out the reviews online. Lots of companies up there. Green Sundaes is the cheaper one of the two I gave you but Capital Kush has better flower from what my son said and they had some really good hookups for first time buyers.

Damn that’s crazy expensive
Not gonna lie the high of the AK itself had me in the first half... but it's still not good enough to pay that much for it. The alien og had that knock your dick in the dirt high but even then the buds they gave me for the 8th were really small. Popcorn. And I don't have the money to buy zips right now to get the real shit...

I understand 100%
Just a tip that your sense that something cheaper may have been better (?) was real. The legal market is loaded with mediocre for top shelf price. You have to try out a few things to find the best.

Value over b.s. marketing

You read it right. I didn't think the premium stuff would be *that* much less potent. I'm just not that interested in most of the strains they have so I took a gamble with this place.

They also had Jack the Ripper, which I had a *very* difficult time deciding between the AK. I only went with it because I've always wanted to try it since high school. I'm wondering if the premium is outdoor because if so the JTR would've been better for this climate.

When you go into the stores, treat the staff well but like your friends...kid with them, ask them questions, dont be shy.

You want to know where it was grown?

Well holy sxxx the budtender actually has a real customer with a serious question. Watch how the guy in the know will explain he in fact worked there and here is his take...

Ask 2 things - what was harvested recently that is good? Because getting something good within a few months of harvest is a much better option than 6 month old bud. And 2, what do THEY like best. Not the customers, them. They will smile and tell you, sometimes.
