Distance from MH/HPS to plants?

I have a 250W MH and HPS bulb rig. How far above the plants should I keep the MH through seedling-veg and then the HPS in flowering?

That is all.

I would say more like 6-7" CB, if you did not move the lights for a few days on accident, you could burn the tops real easy....Gl
