DIY CO2 Emitter System

I basically took the recipe found in the thread here: Home made CO2 Tutorial

and improved on the container.

The materials necessary are a small airstone, an air pump, a 5gallon water jug, some small aquarium tubing, tape. This system can easilly be hooked up to the oscillating fan in your grow room.

I attached the air pump to the handle of the water jug. I then ran a short piece of tubing in through the lid to an airstone. This basically stirs the mixture for you constantly. The real benefit of the air pump is that blowing air into the container forces the accumulated CO2 out. It's my understanding that fermentation is an anerobic process, so I don't think that this should accelerate CO2 poduction very much. It just keeps the mixture stirred and blows CO2 out. I stuffed the rest of the hole in the top of the water bottle full of 6 more pieces of tubing and ran them to my oscillating fan.

Anyone think this might be a good idea?

Hey it looks good! Ive tried some of the do it yourself co2 guides but never really seen any benefit... just simpler to talk to them for awhile each day  but hey if it works lets us all know!
take care

It definitely works. I don't know if i'm down for changing the crap inside it every week though. I think it costs like $8 a week to run or something. It uses 6 yeast packets and 10 lbs of sugar in a week.

Whoa! You can buy yeast in bulk for pretty cheap online, but 10lbs of sugar! I don't know prices off the top of my head, but you could sub clear corn syrup for the sugar, which might be cheaper if you buy alot of it.

That's good to know that it's working. I don't need something that big, but I'm going to keep it in mind as a back up. I'm going to attempt knocking off the "Boost Bucket" and see how that works.
