DIY Grow Tent Air Intake Box

Thought I would just share what I did to solve my air flow issues for my room. I was getting dust in my grow tent and didn't have enough air flow going into tent, so I decided I needed an air intake for the tent. I also needed to allow air to get into the room because it was sucking the air out of the rest of the house and exhausting it outside. So this was my solution.Air Box 1.jpg

I built the box out of 1/2" ply, and painted it for looks and bug protection. I used a bucket for the ducting rather than something that would cost at least 10 from the hardware store. the filter is just a cheap furnace filter, the box could have been built to fit any filter, I chose the smallest I could find. Notice this box is designed so the air has to turn a corner that way no light is allowed through while the ladies are sleeping.

Here's a pic of the box finished and installed, I had to cut a new whole in my tent, but it worked out just fine. The material the tent is made out of cuts easily with a new razor and does not fray, so don't worry.

It works great, doesn't take up too much room, and I thought it ended up looking pretty nice.

The next box was built for an intake for the room the tent is in. I pulled bock the carpet and cut a hole in the floor of the closet and fit the box over it. I decided to draw air from under the house in the summer, to utilize the cool air. In the winter I will plug this or restrict it and draw my air from else where.

No turns were necessary for this box because I do not care if light gets through it.

Well that's it. I had the ply and most of the materials and the filters cost 7 bucks together and I also had the bucket. All in all I made two filtered intakes for under 20 dollars.

Thanks man. It's been in the room for a week now and you can really see the dirt it has prevented from entering the tent. They seem to allow about a perfect amount of flow through as well. Good luck on your build.
