do I wait to see the sex of the plant before I prune it back?

I hate growing males, it's risky and of virtually no benefit since I have been growing bag seed. Do I wait for the plant to show it's sex before I prune it back or do I prune it back and wait to see what sex it is? I searched FAQ's and can't believe this question hasn't been asked before.

Generaly pruning should be done before 12/12. Topping should be done when there are the right number of nodes so you have 4 or six side branches. Other than that there are no restriction AFAIK. Oh yeah, autoflowers should not be pruned or topped.

But what's the problem with pruning a plant that turns out to be a male? You can't pull it until it shows it's sex.
