I kind of just want to start them off in the pot that will be their home for their entire grow cycle. Can this be done?
Do you have to start your seedlings off in cups?

Yup! Did you germinate them first or just put the seeds in the soil and water?
Sry, thought you already did it. I would suggest germinating them in a damp paper towel in a sandwich baggy first. All I do is wet the paper towel, ring it a little and fold it twice, then open up the second fold and place the seeds in the paper towel and cover with the other folded side. Then place in the sandwich baggy and leave it open(this is so it will have air but not dry out as quick and kill your seeds). Then set in a dark area and check daily or occasionally. If the paper towel starts to dry out, dampen it again. Soon you will have germinated seeds. If done right this greatly increases your success rate on seeds. after germinated, put them into your soil and water, just don't use your fingers. You can just put them in soil but some seeds will not germinate.

certainely, if you're experienced, a newbie would have a tendency to over water.

Im sure you have used your fingers every time and it may have worked for you but the salts and oils from your fingers can actually kill or damage them. Read any growers book or bible that talks about germinating and it will mention not to use your fingers. When people spend the amount of money they do on seeds from seed banks, I'd rather be safe than sorry. You really shouldn't spread bad tendencies.
idk, common sense would make most people wash their hands before handling their little babies.. unless you've just been handling nutes or some other materials before hand.
Im just much more likely to drop and lose a seed trying to be super careful with gloves/tweezers whatever than losing them from touching them with my fingers..
I germ using paper towel as above but leave them on a heat mat and keep them damp for a couple of days, once they have burst open I transplant them with a tweezers to a small pot for a couple of weeks and then to their large pot where they stay until harvest.

Honestly I use a clean Fork, works perfect. Ya, if your smart and wash your hands you'll be ok. I'm just saying what I've learned over the years and what works for me. If it works for you than more power to you! If its bagseed I would care less but If I paid top price for some cron seeds. Very true, or maybe even under water, not wetting the medium in the pot from top too bottom. Just watering a little bit around the small plant not making the roots search for water. Done correctly you may think growth in slow. But give them a few weeks for their roots develope in the larger container and growth can be almost explosive.....and pre-germing beans before planting is without question the easiest way and most common reason for seedling failure. Plant the beans in the medium just as nature intended.......

don't forget to cut holes in the bottoms of your cups if you do start in cups, for drainage of course. stay high

I guess I can't say much because the only reason I have never used my fingers is because I read about it in the years of research. You have experience using your fingers and haven't had problems so I can't say that problems will happen. Experience is always better then words.

Yes, they must be started in plastic cups. Its a rule. If you put the seeds in any dirt that is not in a plastic cup they will not sprout. lol

I would say before doing that, What size pot? How long veg. Cause UPing Pots correctly allowing a nice rootball to form will Result in a more vigorous plant. If you do plant it in a Large pot lets say 8-15 gal.. to get the best bang for your seed you would of course want to Veg for like 2months + 
I personally would not plant a seed directly into a 5-8gal pot and only veg for a month.

I havnt received my seeds yet but I am just trying to get all prepared. I know how to germinate seeds though thanks for the help again guys. I know I post too many threads haha
