Does hanging to dry create a dank stank?

I may have made an oopsy and not considered my drying place well enough. I was going to hang in my room until i found out that some plants will need to be harvested before others. Now I'm trying to not make my downstairs wreak, but I don't think I have any place I can hang upstairs. How bad does the smell get in terms of proximity?

dank, utilize a bathroom with ventilation to the roof.

To give you some kind of idea.......

I once when i started growing decided to dry 6 northern lights, a quite low smell strain in a room, with no carbon filter etc, in less than 6-8hrs you could smell it 10 houses away down the street and a road over as well.......

Well, that seems a little exaggerated. I use to do some harvesting for a caregiver friend of mine. Lots of plants, but you had to be in the driveway to smell it. 12 plants of og or something like that.
