Dry Sift Hash - Best way to Dry Trim?

Anyone know the best technique for storing trim & plant material safely ?!

Im a few weeks away from harvest of my PurpleChem and Green Cush photos. Both plants are beautiful & frosty as hell, resin covering all of their leaves that i cannot let go to waste ! I want to make dry sift hash, so i ordered a sifting screen and a pollen press to collect kief from all of these sugar leaves and what not and press them into hash pucks/coins (Trailer park boys)

My question is, what is the best way to store/dry your trim before the dry sift process? How long should you wait before dry sifting ?i have heard of throwing the trim straight in the freezer but im afraid of mold. Do i dry it out before the freezer ? Do i wait to freeze it until im ready to sift it?

Any help is highly appreciated

I'd reccomend hanging the whole plants up to dry after harvest and then do a dry trim if you're making dry sift hash.

When you harvest your plants, remove only the fan leaves (largest leaves) and then hang the whole plant to dry (for at least ten days) once dry trim your buds and keep hold of the trim.

If trim isn't as dry as you'd like, dry for another day or two on newspaper etc. Then make dry sift.

You only freeze when making bubble hash.
Do not grind your trim to make dry sift, gently move it around on your screen being careful not to break up the plant material too much. This will produce high grade dry sift, your aim is to have as little plant material as possible in the end product, ideally none.

thank you for the reply . So does it not help to freeze the trim before sifting it to cause the trichomes to be brittle and fall off easier ? After sifting it a few times through i plan to make edibles

People who freeze the trim to use for hash usually freeze the fresh trim. If you are drying it, then there really is no need to freeze it, especially if you are making bubble hash with ice water or dry ice hash. If you plan on making hash then I would highly recommend looking up Frenchy Canoli on YouTube. He has some long tutorials showing how to make incredible hash and temple balls. I don't think he goes over dry ice methods, but it is basically the same, minus having to dry the trichomes out after separation.

I do two trims when I harvest. First is a wet trim where I take all the fan leaves off. Then after the buds are dry I do a dry trim to take off all the sugar leaves and larf and put them in a big tupperware and let them chill for a couple weeks, burping the bin regularly. Basically a half ass cure. Then I run all that schwag through the trim bin a couple times. Then I harvest my hash and press it in a book because I'm too cheap for a press haha. There's certainly other ways to do it, but this way works great for me.

I'll readily admit it's probably not the purest hash on the planet but I love the taste and burn from dry sift and it gets me plenty stoned. I'm too lazy to go take a new picture but here's what mine looks like when it's done, next to a little nug from one of the plants it was made from.20200301_194238.jpg
