Durga Mata II CBD grow in hydro... genetics from Paradise Seeds

Hi gang, I'm a month into flowering my first harvest of Durga Mata II CBD, the reports seem to say it's about 8.5% CBD and 7% THC. It's exciting to grow this genetic strain as I've never had a high CBD smoke before. I've grown before and this is my first hydro grow, as I've always grown in soil in the past. High CBD strains seem to be all the rage nowaways for their medicinal properties. I am very interested to know how this strain is when smoked. When my grow is finished, harvested, trimmed, dried, and has an acceptable cure, I'm happy to write a smoke report about it. It's a medicinal strain, one of the highest CBD strains I could find locally. I have an uncle with cancer and I'm growing this for him.

Some background as a grower: I am a very small boutique grower, no sell, no smell and no tell. I grow for personal use and the medicinal requirements of friends and family. I've grown just recreational strains in the past with really great genetics like Hawaiian Snow a pure sativa from Greenhouse in Amsterdam and some award winning BC Bud indicas from various places in Vancouver. I have a well-managed super stealth grow hidden behind a secret cabinet in a basement. I use a 430W HPS bulb, cool tube, air conditioner, carbon filter, multiple fans, and a closed-loop system uses the heat from my grow to heat the house during the winter.

The room is small, about 3' x 6' and 8' tall. With an upright A/C unit, dual mufflers, a large carbon filter hung from the ceiling and a 6" Elicent fan the space is very tight. I can grow up to six plants in a single hydro tub. I also take advantage of very cold air outside here in the northern winter, with Arctic temperatures that can reach down to -30C (-22F), yet I can still very safely use this frigid air to reduce the heat in my grow room in a closed-loop HVAC system. I am practically a part-time electrician and have multiple electrical safety systems in place so that the grow works with minimal monitoring and supervision on my part, and won't burn the house down if something fails.

I bought a pack of 5 seeds, of which 4 popped and rooted. Instead of soil I'm going hydro for the first time and am using rockwool but would like to try a foam-plug system in my next grow. I planted the seeds in the rockwool and then put them in hydroton cages, then into my hydro unit to veg. After two weeks of veg they were still very small with dangling roots but I started flowering anyway. After a month into flowering, I am impressed with how short and dense the branches and leaves are. This cannabis does indeed look like a strain that will produce one large cola for the main event, as reports indicated. Early indications it will be a very nice producer. Nice white pistils in the flowers. Short and squat, totally unlike the pure sativa I grew last time.

So far this strain has been very easy to grow, with large fan leaves on a very short, densely packed Indica base. White flowers, large fan leaves and massive roots.

Question: I've had a minor problem with green mold starting on the roots near the hydroton pots, but have been able to keep it at bay so far by adding some 3% hydrogen peroxide. I've been adding 3ml H2O2 per litre of water and the mold has not grown much, but it has not gone away either. Can I eradicate the mold altogether? Or at least add more H2O2 than the above amount to make it shrink? I want only strong white roots and most of them are white right now. This is my first real hydro grow. The fan leaves and flowers look to be in great shape, my PH is fine, my nutes are below the maximum recommended amount, my air temperatures are controlled by AC, and I have great air circulation. I don't know the water temperature though it feels cold to touch. Come to think of it, I should check the water temp tomorrow when the lights are on again.

I'm not averse to posting some pics here for this grow report, I just need to do so carefully. I will first remove all GPS and EXIF data from the pics before posting. If anyone is interested in pics let me know.

Until the pics of my grow are uploaded, here's some entertainment for you:

BTW I find it hard to write well when I'm baked.

RIght on. I'm growing a CBD strain too called Lucy from Reserva Privada Colorado. Short squat Indica plants as well. Growing it cuz CBDs seem to help me with some neurological nerve issues I have sometimes. Let us know how the smoke and buzz and all that. Always interested in CBD strains and how they turn out. I've tried smoking Harlequin and it works well for me in small doses; its sativa buzz is a little intense in larger doses.

What are your water temps like? You might try adding something like Physan20 if you feel you need it. I'd like to see some pics before, tho.

Okay at long last here are some pics, taken about a month into flowering. These ladies were barely seedlings when I started flowering, as I was going to run out of time otherwise.

Fease - I'm interested in the CBD strain you're growing, please post a smoke report after harvest!
Southerner - no idea what my water temps are, I will have to find a floating gauge soon. I realize you kinda need that in order to help, I should have thought this through a little more in advance... water feels cold enough to the touch, whatever that means. :)

A few more, trying to adjust the colors due to the yellow HPS... these started flowering as seedlings.

And here's some root porn for you. Not perfect, I know, but I figure it's not bad for my first attempt at hydro. Roots are mostly white with a little bit of brown... next time I'll introduce hydrogen peroxide a little earlier, unless anyone can suggest some better ideas.

I hear that root protect stuff works good for that bit of brown roots. Forget what it's called. Some guy posted a smoke report of lucy in the "reserva privada colorado thread". Said it's some if the highest quality bud he's had. I will still report :).
