I myself have done some 'altering' of a few systems into one...no bulkheads and all that headache...all the tubing used in mine just presses together and fully comes apart for washing and the best part I like is no holes in the tote so very little chance of a leak/mess. :P
Might give you some ideas...figured I'd share and maybe save you some time. :)
Myself, I'm limited on height so I use the under the bed storage containers with wheels that swivel in all directions so its easy to move around on flat floors...I grow 2 plants in a 24"x48"x41" space...lst and super cropping.
The red lines are showing how the 2nd little pump circulates the water and oddly enough how the roots grow also...they just grow in a circle so no clogged pump either and if there are any stray roots they can be seen fairly easily. :)

Well, after spending a couple of days fucking with trying to fix leaks in thid stupid ass design for a hydroponics system. i finally fucking snapped as I've been known to do, and beat the ever loving shit out of it. So, there goes that. No more debating on whether or not to try a different setup. One thing i noticed by the water thst flooded was how goddamn nasty the supply lines are. I had root rot a couple of times. I had bleached it but who knows what was surviving. I am so pissed still thinking about the time and money wasted on this bullshit. Wait, i paid for my education. That's what i did. I still have the other tent running smooth and all these bucketscand pipes can suck my motherfuckin dick. I have hated them since the first leak on the first assembly. Anyway. How messy is a drip to waste system? I got a long run to get to waste but can do it. Can i go from drip to rdwc? Or is it best to go from rdwc to rdwc? I move plants over to my 5x5 after flowers are done. Think i will buy that 4x4 tank and srt up a fountain in it under the lid. Long night. Just going to bed but still too wound up. Definitely need to get on the dirtbike today...
I like that you shared a picture of the offender(s), and the state they ended up in. They had it coming, if you ask me.

Cool. Thanks for sharing that pic. So are the plants roots being sprayed/misted by one of the pumps? As well as the roots being submerged?

So are you running it kind of like the cloaner? You have it spraying the roots? And then a pump to circulate? Hmmm a misting system like the cloaner would greatly reduce the amount of water needed and oxygen worries would be eliminated. Probably wouldnt have to worry about root entanglement as much either. I am going to use the left over pink board to make partisans in there. Figure i will just cut notches in top and bottoms for flow. I appreciate your time replying

With my rdwc systems I moved towards designing them with overflow return lines that were about 2 inch width and never got close to blocking them up, but always had access as they were at the top of the container. Used like big ass plastic boxes, 4 plants per box and one overflow return per.

Yup it sprays roots for 10-15 seconds every minute and the circulation one runs 24/7.

brilliant. how deep is the water in bottom? about 2 inches? how many plants per? 2 ? that is fucking awesome, self contained and vertically enlightened. i am going to run it in mine as i could use a foot gain.

fuck the pipes and bulkheads. that shit is whack. i am going to do my flower tent in the same way after harvest funding comes in. and do misting system with less water and nutes and more Oxygen. If you could get a fan somehow to blow in it i bet it would cool the water as it mists as well. Mak'er Grow are you running a chiller or anything or it is cooling from mist?

The tote water is about 1.5 to 2" on average...tote is 6"...5 gallons max and I wait until it goes down 1 to 2 gallons before I top it back up...usually about 2 days for yup 2 plants.
I live in an apartment so I have concrete floors that help keep things cool...no chiller...I built a box with 4 sections...top 2 are for veg and bottom 2 are used for flowering...all 4 use the same tote setup so everything is interchangeable and washable.
Forgot to mention I also use reflective sheet on top of the blue panels to block light out...panel itself doesn't stop it all.
