EC PH and PPM

:joint:Hey I was curious as to what the ppm or EC should be in the res. we currntly have it at 900 ppm and it is the second week after germ. Is it to high or too low? I read thats where it should be... we also adjusted the ph to 6.0 because the leafs where yellowing slightly but the ppm was at 440 when we checked it with the metter, Did we fix it or no?

Nutrient solutions used to grow marijuana generally range between 500 and 2000 parts per million (PPM). If the solution concentration is to high, the internal osmotic systems can reverse and actually dehydrate the plant. For general purpose, try to maintain a moderate value of approximately 800 to 1200 PPM. Nutrient solution concentration levels are affected by nutrient absorption by roots and by water evaporation. The solution weakens as plants use nutrients, but water also evaporates from the solution, which increases the nutrient concentration. Adjust the concentration of the solution by adding fertilizer or diluting with more water.

Use an EC meter to check the overall strength of your nutrient solution. EC is the most consistent measure of overall solution strength.

Ideal ph for marijuana growing is 6.5-7 I like to maintain my ph at 5.7-5.9 that will allow me a bit more room to play with my nutrients.

Hope that helps.

Good luck

Cannabis grows best in soil with a pH from 6.5 – 7. Within this range, marijuana can properly absorb and process available nutrients most efficiently.

Thanks for the help. I am growing deep culture and my white rhino is entering her second week this Thursday. I am currently using a 22"x22"x22" flowering room with 2 42w cfl's im getttiing two more after turkeyday.

The veg is 40"x22"x22" i'm currently buying this light 400 watt HPS GROW LIGHT SYSTEM w 400w SUN LAMP +BALLAST - (eBay item 180178297553 end time Nov-23-07 22:00:00 PST)
I have a little bit off ventilation and i plan to increase it.

The plan is after the forth node take a a clone and grow each in 2 weeks sets to decrease the amount of time inbetween yeilds. There is going to be 4 plants in each room. I want two plants going through two week stages together.

My questions are
1. Will the flowering room be efficeint with the 4 cfl's?
2. Will the plan work?
3 What do i need to check daiily with the plants, and the hydro solution?
4. Will the 400 hps be good for the 4 plants?

You have a 400w HPS, and should use that for your flowering room. Veg under the CFLs.
The plan will work as well as it can, and you will improve it.
Daily res maintenance is the main thing, checking that the plants are getting the nute solution that you want. Oh, and raising the lights.

Is the height of the room really 22" tall? You will not be able to use a HPS light if that is the case. You are asking the right questions though. I do not hit my plants with that high of ppm @ two weeks after germ, I would say 600 is on the high side. Take it easy on them until they are well rooted. A question that no one seemed to ask is what medium are you growing in. If in dirt then as suggested by Kitty with the nice boobies 6.5-7 is good, if in hydro then 5.5-6.5. They will always be debate but those numbers are guidelines. a 400 watt HPS will cover a 3x3 area. So you can fit 4 medium sided plants in that or 8 small plants, look into SOG in the FAQ page. The link is on the top left hand side of this web site. I can't stand CFL's, but if you are restricted by space and lack of equipment, then you have to go with what you got! PM me if you have more questions...GL

I had the same question...concerning the height of your room 22''? I agree 400 watt HPS will do the job.

Thank you daddychrisg for your kind words.....smile.

The light is actually going in the 40" room , but the roomstarts at the top of the rubbermaid. so my plants can gorw 3 feet right?

Well, if the room height is 40" , and your rubermaid takes up one foot, you will also lose the space the light takes up. Then, if you are utilizing the HPS light, you will be fortunate if you can grow it to within a foot of that light. So, 40" less a foot (rubbermaid), less 8" (approx for light itself), less a foot to keep it away from the heat of the HPS light leaves you about 8". You would have to stick with CFL's all the way unless you grow in a method to keep your plant height to less than a foot.

Doesn't seem like enough height for anything but CFL's

18 days or so after germ. 12 or so after the phan leafs. The picture shows the boxes and the res which is under the box. The idea is that they can grow right up untill the light the WR is supposed to be 2 or 3 feet tall so in the big room i have 40"-8"(light)-12"(safety distance)=20 inches which is low so i figure the light can acyually go outside the box.
