If you still have electric heat in your house, time to get connected to gas (if it goes by your house)!

This isn't unexpected, and its gonna hurt a lot of people. The Somerset power plant (with those brand new cooling towers) has been shut down for some time now because the US EPA has a jihad on coal power, what did we expect to happen? When you make less of something and the demand is the same, the cost goes up. The new higher costs of buying power, brought to you by the great consumer advocates in the legislature.

It's a great time to bring up the idea about how flowering plants need much less light than veg plants, and veg plants are happy with cfls. Looks like I'll be dimming down my HID until it gets warm again....... :/

Those bastards.....
They got to make thing even more difficult
As if the holidays don't tighten the wallet enough now they got to tighten there death grip by increasing electric bills f;in ridiculous

most recent number is 24% for ri. looks like the hike will run from january-june. definitely a bad hit but glad it will be reduced for when i need my ac units most. i do a closed loop in my room so the non-odiferous hot air coming out of my hoods is going back into my house for the winter months rather than outside as it does in the summertime. also if you're not running 240v, get that switched before 1/1/15.

Got a letter in the mail about this; yesterday. I think they estimated $21 more per month for the same electrical usage. That figure is probably for normal people so a bit more for us - probably $35 more per month for me. So that's really not so bad!

Ahhh, everyone does say same thing.

220V/110v does NOT save money on electricity... it lowers AMPERAGE. They charge kilo watt per hour. Not for amperage. So if your using 1000watts per hour on 110 or 220 it is still 1000watts per hour.

thanks ricky, very good to know. so the only real benefit of 240 is being able to fit more lights on a breaker? are there even real savings between digital and magnetic ballasts? my indoor lighting world has been turned upside down due to my naivety.

Its just less stress on entire system. Wires dont get as hot, breakers dont heat up, and wiring can handle more components.

As for saving money i would ASSUME you would with digital ballasts then magnetic cause they have more efficient capacitors and tech inside. Thats just my assumption. Electronics dont use as much electricity while in use then the initial startup so albiet digital ballast drop wattage while in use while still being better than magnetic ballasts
