Can someone link to the formula to calculate electricity usage?....Or better yet, can someone give me an idea how much per month it costs to run a 400w HPS on 18/6?

Nevermind...found my answer.

600 hps has only been running me about 40 extra a month..yer telling me my 1000 gonna cost me an additional 200
I think you've got an electrical problem at your house..Is your panel electrically balanced?..Need to be pulling equal amounts (amps) off of both poles in your panel

Something else had to be comin on/pulling power...an AC..a sump pump..somethin'.

If a 1000 watt light jacked yer bill $200 you are paying over $.26 cents per Kwh for electricity according to the usage charts supplied by NGW in their wholesale sales catalog. Usage of a 1000 watt on 12/12 should cost about $55 a month on AVERAGE.

Hey Bloodshot
Heres the math you are looking for. WATTS x HOURS = Watts PER DAY.
12hours x 400 watts=4800watts per day.Divide total watts per day by 1000 to get total killowatt hours per day.{4800 divideed by 1000 = 4.8 killowatts per day.} Now multiply the killowatt days times the cost per killowatts to get the total cost PER DAY.Cost per day times 30 days=cost per month. My killowatts cost me .11 cents per killowatt hour,{.11 cents x 4.8=0.528 cost per day}Now times 30 days= cost per month for a 400watt light.{0.528x30=$15.84 per month}.Theres the math you ask for, hope that helps .Peace

What are you paying for a killowatt hour?I"am not saying you are full of it but thats high for one 1000 watt light.Maybe the elec company made a mistake or something I dont know. For $200.00 a month I can run 4 or 5 lights a month.Do you have a old refrigerator running,I know that a old ref will cost more when they go bad.One I had jumped my bill $60.00 a month, got a new one and the bill when down $60.00.Theres a meter called{ killawatt }.You plug it in and plug in the light, pump or what ever and it tells you how many watts that light ect is drawing.$200.00 is alot way too much for one light.Hope you find whats using that much power. Peace
