So, I was looking over our creation today and realized, it all started so suddenly, and now, we're at THIS? This might be a bit of a boast, but I dare say, this box borders on the line of amazing and perfect...
Enough intro...
It started as a wooden storage chest, 15x15x15. Moderately small, but very sturdy and incognito, which was the point, at first... I put a computer fan into the back for exhaust and a game cube fan into the front for intake. Four 23 watt CFLs in multi spectrums ranging from 3500-5500...
We started running temp tests with our lighting and had temperature problems, they were hovering in the 90's, we wanted it lower. So we installed a different one in place of the gamecube fan. (Picture 1087, 108
Even with the new fan we were still having temp problems, couldn't get them below 85. So, we decided that sense heat rises, we'd install a fan at the top of the box. Viola, heat problems, gone. (Picture 1105)
We were happy with what we thought was going to be the final product, but boy were we mistaken... One afternoon we were takin a stroll through the local home depot and happened upon a 65 watt, 300 watt equiv super low heat CFL in the 6500k spectrum. HAD TO HAVE IT! We took out all our hard work on the prior lighting set up and installed this bugger... And let me tell you, it was some work considering the only tool we had was a buck knife... (Picture 1136)
Found a webcam lying around, installed it... This way we can keep our paws off! (Picture 1154)
Decided we wanted another 65 watt CFL for the front wall sense LST wasn't going the way we hoped... We also wanted to make sure that we had all spectrums of light covered so we got a 23watt CFL in the 2700k spectrum to accompany our TWO 65 watt CFLs in the 6500k spectrum! All lights installed. (Picture 1320, 1321, 1322, 1323)
