Examining Plants

Hello rollitup'ers!

I'm sure like most of you, I really enjoy examining my plants. Not just for pleasure but to see any problems like mold or insects and also watching for pre-flowers and the first signs of sex. There is also a need to check trichomes and keep a watch on the stigma coloration for harvest time.

My question is, what do you recommend to use to take a closer look? Loupe? Magnifying glass? What power do you use? I've seen advice for everything from a 3X loupe to an 80X pocket microscope (and everything in-between) but was wondering what most of you use. Any suggestions/recommendations to use or avoid?

Thanks!
