Exhaust help needed!

So i am building a cab out of an old wardrobe and need help with finding a carbon filter/ fan combo that will fit in the space i need it too. the cab has about 6 inches of clearance between the bottom of the cab and the floor and i want to mount it on the bottom of the cab so that you could look at it from all sides and not know its there.

the problem is that the fans and filters i have looked at so far have a larger diameter than 6 inches so if anyone knows of anything that would fit in that space i would greatly appreciate it.
i know next to nothing about intakes and exhaust because it hasnt been needed before but here is a picture of the space if that helps

you're going to have to use 4" fans, filters and ducting for such a small place. home depot or lowes has everything except the filter. you can diu from info on this site or check out any of the local or online grow shops.

most of the 4" fans and filters i have looked at still have a larger diameter of at least 6 inches or more and thats the problem that im running into. can anyone recommend a specific brand that may be smaller than that?

i purchased a Sunsport inline duct booster fan at a lowes whose diameter is only 4 inches. the drawback is its only 80 cfm and can't take much backpressure but it might be enuf for a small grow area (like 8 cubic feet). it is very quiet, however.

Personally i would try goimg another route. A CF works best when air is pulled through it, perhaps get a larger filter and mount it inside the case. But really i found that for me the easiest way was to cut a hole in the top of the wardrobe and run the exhaust duct through it, just sit a cardboard box or a rubbermaid tote on top of the cab with a hole in it's bottom.

If you exhaust through the bottom where are you going to run your intake from?

Good Luck

well the initial idea was to have a passive intake at the bottom and run ducting straight up to the top of the cab inside and exit by the light where its needed, then have the exhaust out the bottom with the carbon filter and fan underneath. that way there would be nothing noticable on the outside. its over a concrete floor and the temp are right around 70 along the floor so i thought that might work.

if i have enough room inside an alternate plan i was just thinking about would be to mount the fan and CF inside and duct it out of the cab. do you think this would work if i ran the ducting from the CF to the bottom of the cab and exhaust it there?

i will try to post a pic in a little bit of the inside to give an idea of the interior space. the interior deminsions are about 31" wide, 18 inches deep and 54" tall giving us a total of about 18 cf

the problem is that if both your intake and exhaust are on the bottom you risk creating a partial closed loop where the air from your exhaust will be sucked back into your intake. you will essentially be failing to introduce fresh air as the same hot stagnent air will continue to circulate in an out. I would not reccomend it. I have built afew growdrobes now and if you need any help just ask here or feel free to pm me.

Good Luck
