Fan Leaves

Hello all I have question about the fan leaves. I am a first time grower and I just harvested my plants. the question I have might seem dumb but again I am a first time grower. After harvesting which leaves are the fan leaves and should be taken off and which leaves should stay on. I took off all of the bigger leaves further down from the bud but what if any leaves do I remove from around the bud itself. any help would be greatly appreciated.

peace and happy growing

those little pointy leaves sticking out from all of the colas, I just take scissors and chop these little leaves right off. good luck man, and take you time :)

Some people leave the smaller bud leaves on. I removed all the big fan leaves and trashed them. Then I trimmed the small and resin covered leaves, which I have dried and am saving to make hash or butter.

So once i cut off all of the leaves from around the bud/colas all i should be left with is the bud itself right? I guess in my novice mind i think that all of those resine covered leaves should be left on but I do like the ideal of making some butter with the leftovers. if I leave some of the smaller leaves on will it make much difference to the taste and smoke of the bud? i guess I am just afraid that I am going to cut off to much of the good stuff. thanks bbike1 and pamaris for the advice.:bigjoint:

The best buds I've smoked are kinds, and they had all the leaves trimmed off including the "sugar leaves". The way I learned takes a few days longer, but works great is... remove the fan leaves, hang buds for a day or 2 as you would dry them, then go back, and snip all the leaves from the buds. If you keep the colas upside down it makes it much easier to remove the entire sugar leaf with one snip. But then again some people prefer asthetics more so they cut the sugar leaves down to the edge of the colas so the colas have a uniform shape. Either way is fine, just preference really. Now you can continue with the rest of the drying process...keep in mind your already 1-2 days into the drying process, so once the second manicure is done don't think you have to dry them for a week...usually 3-4 days after the 2nd manicure perior is good, but just check the stems, by bending them, if they fold them need more drying, if theny snap they are ready to be cured.

Thanks for the advice guys. I went back today and trimmed almost all of the smaller leaves and made some nice nutella brownies with them. I left a couple of the leaves on that were really coated with resin I just couldn't bring myself to cut them off. but I am bringing back one of my plants into flowing stage again and with these buds I am going to cut off everything and see what the difference is. again thanks to all those who posted advice. :bigjoint:
