First Grow - Dorm style

Hello all. This is my first post, first thread, and first grow. To start off, I germinated and planted a seed i found in some juicy fruit kush I bought...as of now i'm just seeing how it goes, I'm just praying for a female. My closet space is roughly 2.5 ft deep x 3.5 ft. wide x 5 ft tall.
closet stays pretty warm...i am going to buy a thermometer soon.... great place for a grow in my opinion...

Materials as of now:

Miracle Gro Moisture Control Soil
(1) 17 Watt Lights Of America growing light $8
(2) 23 Watt GE 6500K CFL's $8
(3) 23 Watt GE Regular CFL's $6
Schultz' Perlite $3.50
8" Pot w/ drainage holes $.88
12" fan for air circulation $10
24/24 Lighting Cycle

plant seems to be growing pretty well, looks real healthy. Will post Day 4 picture tomorrow.

All you really need right now is like, one cfl, an inch or so away from the top.

Nice GhettoGrow. You should spend all your spare money on CFL's. Get lots of bulbs ready for flowering. And remember 2700k(warmwhite CFL) for flowering 6500k for Vegging. Good luck and happy growing.

still looking well as day 5 approaches soon....watered today, wont have to for another 3 days. will post pictures tomorrow of the overnight progress...any advice about any nutrients in this stage to help it grow faster and healthier?

i would wait on the nutrients until your plant has a good root structure. plain water will be fine until then.

Well, I added a little more perlite to the top of the soil for some extra drainage...it's starting to turn a yellowish tint, but i believe its from the light and heat in the closet....Here are Day 5 pictures, it's looking really nice and green.

I don't think perlite on top of the soil will help with drainage but neat little dorm setup good luck and keep us posted I love watching these grows.

Your plant looks good! Many kudos for attempting a dorm grow. I too am working with a dorm grow...

I've only got one CFL for now and am on day 13 of my grow, but I'll be getting some new CFLs and hopefully be moving my plant to a bigger area when I transplant it.

haha thats pretty cool youre doing a dorm grow too, be careful though...the only reason im doing this in my dorm is because my roommate moved out and i have the whole room to myself....dont tell anyone

It looks really healthy and growing rather fast... Im anxious to see how it's going to do after the transplant I have planned on the 14th day...Going to be moved from a 8" pot into a 4 gallon pot...I am trying to make sure that this thing is completely finished as far as flowering by May 1st. Would you guys, in order to make sure its done in time, veg for only 3 weeks and change to 12/12 or would you still go for a 4 week veg period and then switch?
