First grow (PC) micro

I chose to germinate Joint Doctor's Lowryder #2. I decided on this because of the short time. 8 weeks to harvest. It is an autoflowering strain.

24 hours in and nothing has happened to my seed.

I bought a new container. it is 2.5qt/2.4L.

7 3/8" x 5 5/8" x 6"

I am not sure which to use. This one or the real big one

13.3" x 7.5" x 4.75"

This second one is real long and takes up the entire case. The smaller one is a little taller and not nearly as long.

Good news is I had a friend ring me up at Home Depot and told her about the socket adapters being significantly cheaper at WalMart and she gave me WM's prices. So I can finally start to make sure I am light proofed.

I built a make shift light trap for the large exhaust fan, and I dont like it. It takes up too much room in the case than I want. Anyone got any ideas on low profile pc fan light leak stopping? I dont know what I am going to do to the side fan. I may not be able to put it in because if I build another light trap then my box will be taken over by light traps.

So someone gave me the heads up and said smell was certainly going to be an issue with this LR2. So I built a carbon scrubber today. I hope it works. I repaired a problem with my DC converter. Its too big and too heavy. Hopefully it stays up this time.

Then I checked out my seed.

Looked ready So I stuck it in the soil.

Here is my case with everything ready to grow. My adjustable light idea didnt work because of the carbon scrubber and the DC adapter and timer. No worries, I just lifted the plant to the lights.

I gotta large problem. I got my seed in the soil. Everything seems to be going well.

The lights cut on and my power adapter that powers my fans is melting. It is too hot to touch and the inside is melting through the plastic. I guess the combined heat it puts out plus from the lights is causing it to melt. So now I have to either rewire the box or find a different powersupply that wont melt. i have another one, but it is the same. It will melt too probably.

I moved it to the bottom of the case. Temps should be lower than right next to the lights. We'll see in the next hour or so.

Update: Nothing. Nothing has happened. I think I may have buried it deep. I'm still just gonna wait patiently before I start trying to germinate a different seed.

loved my lowryder 2 as well. My wife thinks it was just ok, but it was such a well rounded smoke. I also like watching these little pc grows. So interesting to take indoor growing to the extreme. Sorry to hear about the adapter but i'm sure you'll work it out. I'm subbed!

Oh forgot, you asked which pot you should go with. I'd suggest the lower profile container. You'll want all the height you can get. I did my first low profile container grow last year with a 4 1/2 inch deep pot but really wide and my northern lights did fine.

I could switch, but i'm going to try this pot for now.

I messed up the plant which is sad because I was looking forward to the LR2.

I am not germinating White Widow. I'm going to take better care before planting in the soil.

Hope I can get it right this time.

ah thats a bummer, LR2 is good stuff too and fun to grow. Better luck on the next one.

Thanks. I will probably order another LR2. I was really looking forward to it. This is all a learning process though. Gotta get one grow under my belt.

The white widow isnt auto so that will be different and it isnt feminized so i may be wasting the next 10-14 days of my grow which will really agrivate me.

Hopefully with some good LST I'll have a nice plant though.

You have to be very careful when germinating in a paper towel coz you can damage the root.
You can germinate the seed directly in soil and you avoid having to touch it that soon. It's also a good method to germinate, you just have to be a little bit more patient.

Thanks for the tips. I feel like my germination was fine. It was my planting and lack of experience and patience that let me screw it up. I am going slower this time after the seed pops.

Thanks again. I'm always interested in hearing a way to make it better. I am learning.

yeh paper towel method screwed up my taproots a couple of times in the past...now i just drop in a cup until they sink then i plant straight into the soil..and it works great for me.

yeh 18/6 is what i usually do. I know it can be done 24/0 but that just doesnt seem natural to me so i go with 18/6. I also do a greenhouse method where i put platic wrap over the top so it creates a humidity dome until i see a sprout then i take it off
