first grow questions

Hey guys, This thread is purely speculation!! honestly!! ah still don't believe me oh well...... Ok so I may be growing in northern Scotland, in a man made environment, I have got the humidity, temp (28-30deg C warm enough?) and vent in/out controlled and stable, I have not yet started the grow but will in the near future... I will be using clones from a strong northern lights mother.. the few questions I have are 1) my tap water is coming out with a good stable ph balance of 6.5-7.1 I believe this is a good number for the ph level, so is it worth still monitoring the soil ph level or will the water not be affected by the plant/food etc? 2) what's the opinion of mulch? is it too hot and the mulch will just dry or does it run the risk of holding too much moisture causing rot and other nasties? also a quick one, does the extraction unit have to run during downtime as the smell wont be an issue but the extraction noise may be??

1- always monoter your PH just to be safe bud i personally dont at all cause my tester blows really bad and im doing a very small scale grow and ive had no PH problems. 2- i wouldnt use mulch lol if your using soil either mix your own 9can find mixes online) or get miracle grow potting soil, i use it and it works fine, its just a plant and as for the last one, id leave the fan on 24/7, keeps fresh air in the room which is important, they need carbon dioxide to breath! hope this helps!

Hey I would not use mulch to grow weed. I would try to obtain a product that is proven in growing weed. In the U.S. Roots organic is a good choice. If you don't have that available to you just make sure that you have a good draining medium like something with lots of pearlite and vermiculite. If your soil is not fortified I would add some worm castings and bat guano. Also if you add some garden lime to your mix it will act as a ph buffer. I have never grown without lime. Its cheap and a cup of it in a 5 gal. container is a huge help. Good Luck Dude.

thanks for the advice, Also what's the thoughts on natural CO2 release, I am considering a sourdough starter as the fermentation of the dough releases CO2, it will be small scale to start 2 plants, with success step it up to four. However I am in agreement with the running 24/7 extraction, noise will be better than smell
