First grow WW Need some help

hi I have a AFOF that is looking to start his first grow. He will be using his unfinished basement as a space to build a grow room out of wood and white plastic. Being stealth isn't much of a concern because he owns his house and doesnt have any guest over. The budget for this project is $1,000.

hes looking at getting these iteams
-600w Lumatek ballast
-600w hps bulb
-air cooled hood
-aquamist III system with 8 - 4" pots
-Carbon Filter
-Exhaust fan CFM?
-PH/PMM meter
-Nutrients??
-white plastic
-Light timer


how does the list look? Does anyone know of a good nutrient system that will work in the aquamist? What Size fan should he use? whats a good Ph/Pmm meter?

as far as the nutes go... imma say that you should go with the most soluble ferts you can find to prevent problems with clogging up sprayers and such... and the fan should move AT LEAST enough air to change the whole cubic footage of the room in five minutes... if using an intake fan, make sure your exhaust blower pumps bout four times harder... hope ur uh...friend, gets sum useful info.
