First mush grow. All contaminated jars!!! What happened?

So, I recently attempted my first mushroom grow. I followed PF Tek method and followed it to a tee. My jars were doing good for a while and after a few weeks in incubation I checked on them and they were all contaminated. As far as I can tell I did everything possible to make sure I had a sterile environment. Does anybody have any advice or words of wisdom?:joint:

Well, either your spore solution was contamed, you were not carefull enough in your inncoculation, or the jars were not properly sterilzed. Also, this is why I never used incubators. Shroom myc will grow just fine in room temp but contams grow slower in room temp, sticking your jars in an incubator puts the shrooms and contams in an even race to colonize the jar. Remember that when growing shrooms its not a question of IF contams will get inside, but a question if they will get inside before or after the shroom myc have taken over.

Throw those jars away and start new....DONT OPEN THEM IN YOUR HOUSE!

The cleaner your environment is the better chance you will have at success. It helps out a great deal to thoroughly clean the room you will be working in beforehand. I usually work in my kitchen at the table, so I will clean the fuck outta the entire room top to bottom everytime before I start my work. I also make sure myself and my clothes are fully clean, and I wear sterile latex gloves. Never had even one contaminated jar, and I use an incubator for the entire colonization time as well.
