First Post 3rd grow

Been lurking here for about a year and a half, just thought I'd finally join the fun! I have been doing a 12/12 CFL grow with some bagseed. I use MG moisture control soil, 2 gallons of DIY Co2, and used a small amount of peroxide in water during veg. I also use a small amount of molasses now that I have preflowers. I have been foliar feeding occasionally and rinsing with water if I notice build up. The plant is about 3 weeks to a month old (forgot when I planted it) and 7.1in tall. I think I kept the lights a little close because its a little too stocky (if there is such a thing). I do like the close node spacing but I am nervous about mold later on.

Well it's been on 12/12 so not exactly vegged but I had the 6500k lights on for about 2.5 weeks until the preflowers showed up.

MG is a little tricky to get down. From what I understand, the food pellets release nutes every time they get moist; so if you water, you're feeding. (this may be wrong so please correct me if you know otherwise) However, if you flush you have to use a little extra water and it seems to be ok.

I watered yesterday and added a tsp of molasses for 1gal and some spots appeared over night, it is not just the tips but small necrosis on the leaf. It seems like cal deficiency. It it only on the older fan leaves and the newer growth is curled down a little. I am waiting to see if it progresses any further before flushing or adding some Cal-Mag.

I think I have figured out the problem. Upon inspection of the bottom of the pot, I noticed it had drainage in the middle, then around the outside the pot dropped down another half inch and had no holes. I assume that when I watered, the nutes from the pellets lay stagnated in this extra space and so I poked holes in it and a bunch of water came out. I flushed and put it under the light hoping for recovery.

I went to Lowes and purchased an N-P-K and Ph testing kit for the soil. If conditions do not improve by tomorrow I will run the tests.

My advice would be to A) not overcomplicate things B) do the tests regardless so you know what you are working with and C) don't over water

Cheers,

Good news! The flush seems to have worked. The necrosis spread quickly throughout the larger fan leaves and I ended up having to trim 2 of them. The under growth seems to have perked up and is doing well. I have a male I am thinking about harvesting pollen from. If one of the females I have gets pollinated early, will the growth on the buds cease? Or will it continue to produce more calyxes? I have the ones I am intending to breed separated but if the male flowers open, I feel pollination is inevitable.
