First Time Grow Root Rot????????

This is my first grow and I am using a bubble ponics system. As I was browsing through other threads I ran across something sayin the roots should not be brown. Most of the roots on all 4 plants are brown with what I thought was the new roots being pure white around them. I just switched to 12/12 today, the plants are 7 weeks old and other than that have really good growth. If the problem is rot is there anything I can do without having to take them out of 12/12 thanks.

yep yep... I used foxfarm's liquid plant food, made them look brown. I switched to Big Grow and that was the problem. If the plant is growing ok, chances are they are ok. Just make sure to flush your reserve every 2 weeks or so (some do it every week) Keep the water clean. You can also add some H202 in there help clean things up a bit.

Liquid Karma will turn your roots Brown. As for you haveing root rot. Can you get your nose down by the roots. If you can take a nice big wiff of them. If they smell rotten, then you have root rot.

I clean the res. out once a week full clean by saying that wash with soap and water and then flush till there is no soap left what so ever. The smell of the roots isnt rotten so I think it was the nutes and a combonation of me overreacting. H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide correct? Do I pour it in there with the res water or should I be using this as a cleaning supply? Thanks guys for all the input again

H2O2 is used in your res with the Nuts. But I am not the one to ask, I never use that stuff. I use stuff like Sensizyme or Hydrozyme on a regular basis.

so you wouldn't know how much to add to a 6 gal res? or would any one else?

Depend on what you % you are using. Store bought 3% ? or 35% food grade. Also, don't mean to sound like a prick but man, use the search function above. Or in the general growing forum. Believe me, the answers are out there, and you will probably stumble upon useful information as well.

You are not being a Prick. But you are uninformed. The search function has not been working for about a week. You can search by user name, but not by subject. I have been trying to find that thread on Gravity additive that was being posted a few weeks ago. But to no success.

Unless the roots are coated in a brown slime and smelly nasty I wouldn't worry to much. Like everyone else said if the plant is growing healthy then just keep an eye on it. I would also recommend checking the base of the root ball for larva. I had a fruit fly/gnat problem and that turned my roots brown because the larva feed on the new tender root hairs. If you have no flies and/or larva, and no slime you should be good.

Thanks for the all the help guys. Everything looks good now flushed the roots out with water and a little bit of H2O2 got four more lights hooked up so now we shall be in business. Still haven't sexed plants yet as they were bagseed. Next grow I want to get some seeds off the internet. Does anyone know how safe it is for US customers to get the seeds sent their house or were they are going to have the grow op? My grow op is completly stealth using cfls...... Two big 105w lights one blue spec one red spec, then 4 40w red spec. I was thinking about getting some lowryder ak47 but like I said skeptical about ordering the seeds. I do live in a high crime rate area so thats why I'm a little more cautious as to putting pics or anything up at the moment.
