First timer needs setup help!

I'm a first time grower, and I'm working with a space aprox. 3.5 x3.5 and just under 7' ceiling.

I understand I'll need intake and exhaust ventilation and I'm working that out now. I'm getting ready to order a hps light and need to know how much light I can get away with in this space, without causing excessive heat. I would like to try and avoid using cooltube reflectors if possible to keep costs down. Can I get away with using a 600 watt light? Or would a 400 watt be more appropriate?

Really appreciate you helping a new grower out, I'll be watching for your advice.

Thanks

What's it take to get a little help here? C'mon help a brother out!

Being new at this makes it tough for me to know how much heat these hps lamps will produce.

Chill out bro, people will help, just be patient. A 600 with a curved aluminum reflector should be fine in that sized space with proper ventilation. I personally like the Osram Plantastar bulbs, they put out 90,000 lm and have 20% blue spectrum. Just my $0.02

if your hood is sealed off and seperatly exusted you could get away with a 600, but im working in close conditions to you and i have a 400w M.H and i am thinking this will still produce too much heat because the hood isnt sealed off but im planing on hooking up seperate ventenlation , do have any ideas on how to do that without having two carbon filters
