this is my first grow and, like with any first time grow, I made some mistakes in the beginning. I've since fixed problems with lighting, Ph, nutrients and air circulation. because my kids were poorly lit during their first 2 weeks they grew about 4" of stem before the first node developed. now all 7 of them are 8-10" and all have 5 nodes each between the first node and the grow tip. my problem is that I am going to start flowering in 2 weeks and I know that they are going to grow like...well, weeds...and I don't think the stems are strong enough to support that since they're so long.
I am going to transplant them into 5 gallon pots in 1 week and I just want to know if it's okay to bury them up to about an inch below the first node. I've read somewhere that the buried stem will produce roots of it own, but I figured I'd get a second opinion before I did that. is this an acceptable way of dealing with stems that are too long at the base?
