Fluorescent lights

Ive heard some things about fluorescents.. i just wanna use them to veg. how many should i get to veg 12 plants in a 4x3x5 area?? any opinions would be great
 
personally i think you should get a better light than fluorescent because you are trying to grow 12 plants...

your going to need so many of them i think you would save money just buying a better light
 
yeah I use floro and cfl myself, but I wouldn't recommend it for a large grow. The ridiculous number of lights you'd need to put out enough and the wiring involved kind of takes away from the money saved on them. I just have a small personal grow going and it's fine for that.
 
yea i agree or you can get a few of those huge 250 watt cfl`s that has those mogul bases
 
Yes, but only for the first two or three weeks, if starting from seed or clone.


CF's can't penetrate dense or mature foliage.

If you are growing clones, a 250 cf would meet all of your vegging requirements. You can then stick em then under a 600 watt hps to flower/finish them with great efficiency.
