FULL ROOM HPS GROW

Wanna do a whole room grow using HPS set up with around about 10-12plants in the room.
Would 6-8x600 watt HPS lights do the job or would I need more?
Also will I have to mess around with the power or just use normal house power?? Or to risky??

i'd say run 2 lights in the room and run an extension cord for 2 more lights from a different room. if you want 3000+ watts you might need an electrician if you don't already have 30 amp breakers on your rooms.

Only 2 lights for 10-12plants??
U talking 600watt HPS lights right? How bout running 4x600 watt with 4 big hood shades,would that work???
Also u think I won't have to jump the power if I run under 3000 watts?

Ohhh didn't read that 2nd part properly bout getn 2 more lights running off extension cords from another room...
How will that make a difference anyways???

Extension cords get hot!

each 600W light uses 5.5 amps on a normal 110v outlet. meaning only 2 could run off of a normal 15a circuit.
8 600w lights would use over 43 amps on 110v. best bet is to get a 30a 220v circuit installed to a high power realay that turns the lights on and off.
this will leave the 110v power for fans, humidification, and air conditioning

he wants u to run the extension cord so the power your useing is not all on one circuit and keeps the breakers from over loading. if you do that get good expensive heavy gage cords not much longer than what you need

S13hitman is right. its a lot more involved than hanging up 4,800 watts and watering soil.

four plants per 600w is what I run and it works fine....as attractive as those big xxl hoods are, they diffuse the light too much for a 600w bulb in my opinion. Go with 4 more-focused hoods and you'll be fine. You can find high-amp extension cords at a marine store as they are used to give big boats shore power.....they ain't cheap.
