Ya man they love the top dress
A few days after top dressing I used to be able to see tons of larvae in the top dress.
I found this product and I sprinkle it over the top dress and I have got rid of them pretty much, might see one flyer every week or two

A lot of people trip when I tell them what worked for me but OK let the haters come. EWC alone worked for me. There's at least hypoaspis miles mites and nematodes in decent EWC. Even more good stuff in high quality EWC. But the Wiggle Worm worked fine for me when I started.

Since you're topdressing, adding neem meal to your amendments will help deter all kinds of pests. I topdress with neem in veg and karanja in flower.

My point of view is stir it in an inch or two in your properly watered soil.

Arrogant but easy and accurate.

The larva is breaking down the top dressing. So gnats aren't all bad, lol.

That's probably Bti. I'd use that since it wouldn't hurt any of my beneficials. But I never have. The EWC worked fine but it wasn't instant. So a combination would be good.

I'm honestly curious. You're top dressing produces fungus gnats? And you top dress with what???
I'm guessing cause I already had gnats so when I tip dress that shit is like fungus gnat crack they love it so they would infest some of the top dressed plants in a couple days. fought a long hard battle using all sorts of stuff,BTI,need oil, I use need meal in my soil, lost coast plant therapy. Tried to find gnatrol but can't get it in Canada. So eventually found that aqua bac sprinkled it in the top dress and no more fungus gnat larvae in them anymore.
Originally got the fungus gnats when I first started using organic bag soil fox farm and Gaia green soils had them in varying degrees eversince. If if ever got real bad and I wasn't flowering I would use a pyrethrin spray

Diatamacious Earth over the top soil works well.

Keep it simple.
I'm backing you? Diatomaceous "food grade". Very conscientiously applied. It kills most arthropods. Bees most. Use after dark and water the surrounding area down afterwards. Save our BEES.

fungus gnats aren't even bad. They are more annoying.
Stop leaving your medium sopping wet, get yellow sticky traps and layer some DE.

In organic medium / top dressing organic things it's impossible not to have some gnats.
Your answer to a fungus gnat infestation is sticky traps and DE?
Tried both of those, used de a couple times did practically nothing but make a mess. I saw gnats literally walk around in it like nothing. Not to mention as soon as it gets wet or even moist its useless.
Sticky traps are definitely good for flyers but they sure aren't going to get rid of them.
I'm going on my second run with none in my flower tent....fingers crossed.
See one every week or two in my clone/veg cabinet
