Hey RIU!

Is General Hydroponics Flora Series good for a first time grower? Grow medium will be coco coir and pearlite. I need something simple and inexpensive but I also need a feeding schedule that's easy.

Have you used GH Hyrdo Flora series and what do you think of it?

It's pretty simple and I used on my first grow with excellent results .
However it's a PITA to always be mixing the 3 part, and good chance you need a cal-mag supplement although I could be wrong (I don't use coco).
I've recently made the switch to Dynagro and my plants have taken to it well, but the best part is the simplicity. Their grow formula is one bottle that's more concentrated making it easier and cheaper in the long run. Their silica additive (protekt) is also very effective and I will soon add magpro once I finish the cal mag bottle I bought from my first grow.

I've used it for some years and found that it is an excelant choice, inexpesive and not that hard to use, my plants loved it and they grew well. I highly recomend it.

Started out with the flora series 20 yrs ago. I think it still holds its own against every newer nutrient base. But with the advent of one part liquid formulas, I don't mess with the 3 part anymore. Currently i've been rockin cns17. Good shit!
You say simple and inexpensive? I would have to recomend maxigro/maxibloom. I usually max out at 1tsp. per gallon using maxi in coco. Because you'll be growing in coco, you should definitely have some cal-mag on hand. Use calmag if your water barely has any, and or if plants show deficiencies.

you can just use floranova for the flowering part if you wanna stick with
gh but cut down on bottles.
I've had plenty fun with floranova. Again, 1 tsp max with that stuff to, potent stuff. Definitely not as inexpensive as maxi series though. Floranova does end up being the same price as using flora series, but much simpler, with similar results.

My water is well water, and it is hard, however I don't know what is all in it since I don't have any kind of public water that tells you their treatments. I'll probably start off with a couple of gallons of store-bought water and once I get my plants going try to see if they like my water or not.

I bought the GH Flora and some CalMag to have on hand. Once my PPM meter comes I'll then be able to check the hardness of my water and get a better idea of what it is I have.

For example, my house water is filtered by a UV light if that tells you anything.

So using Dynagro grow, protekt, n magpro is easier, fewer bottles, n cheaper than GH 3 part? What will you use for bloom?

Flora series is the 3 part, duo is the 2 part, nova is the 1 part, thats what iv always gone by atleast

protekt and magpro are additives so that doesn't count. GH 3 part base doesn't contain silica or cal/mag additives either.

DG is grow/bloom
GH is grow/micro/bloom

DG is also more concentrated so you get more for your money. Either line you need to supplement cal in coco... magpro doesn't have cal so that would be a poor choice. I use botanicare cal/mag+

The 1-part floranova has organics where the 3 part flora series does not, so that should be kept in mind.

I have tried DG, GH Flora, FloraNova, and Botanicare PBP - I prefer DG for cost, grow/bloom 2 part, ph stable, not organic, and just overall feelings of better results.

I know what additives are however when u rely on protekt to ballance ur ph its not an additive, its a second part. I got my start using GH n lucas n a hempy bucket so I can assure you it has all the cal/mag/silica needed to produce a good yield. If ur one part needs 2 other parts to produce then its a 3 part. Im not knocking Dynagro at all but call it what it is, unless ur only using one bottle its not a one part. If its a one part it will work in hydro with nothing but inert medium.

Silica is not required to balance ph it's an additive... and if you do rely on it for ph then you should call it a ph adjuster not part of base nutes. I am surprised you used no cal in coco, maybe you have hard water and/or small plants. Eithe way if u didn't need cal with gh u won't need it with dg either. Silica additive isn't needed it is just nice to have for the benefits, and generally is only used in veg.

Veg = dynagro gro. More concentrated sui it lasts longer and it contains more essential nutrients than gh.
Bloom = dynagro bloom (if your plants need nitrogen add a little grow at first)
All you need.
I use pro tekt because no matter what nute line up I'm using I'm going to add silica. It does wonders for the stalk strength. Also silica will keep your ph steady with dynagro. Gh and silica and ur ph is still volatile.
Magpro is again optional.
Dg you need 1 bottle for veg one bottlefor flower if you're wanting to be minimalist. It will still be better than using gh 3 part in nutritional content and easier.

ok so im on my second grow. i was given a G.O. lineup
biothrive bloom 2-4-4
biothrive grow 4-3-3,
florablend compost tea .5-1-1
floraNectar 0-0-1
floralicioius Plus 2 -.8 -.02
and thrive alive B1 1-1-1
what would you suggest fora mix in a gallon of water for my 5-7 week range for the plumping of my buds. and then what should i do for a flush so i don't have that nasty tasting bud as i did the first time. any input is helpful. i plan on using these up for my next grows also. so any nurient regiments would help. oh ya forgot to say im growing in soil
