from the title; you may think I'm talking about chastity boner...nope! I've heard a lot of misinformed talk about hermaphroditism...here's what I've SEEN: I have seen natural hermies, born that way. I've also seen 'incidentals'- stress hermies. the main stressor seems to be cold. my blackD mother was a late herm'...I had already taken clones they all seemed to be natural hermies.. I had some white dom seeds from her...all hermies. this doesn't necessarily mean that a hermie mom will automatically produce hermies...a perfect example is my purple haze widow. her mom(purple haze) had a stress herm' branch, yet 1/2 of her seeds were normal- though stress herm' prone. I recieved some shit from some R.I.U.people for even pollinating a herm...well, guess what! I'm gettin' read to 'bag'(light hrs.) a 3' purple widow who's 3/4 the way through flowering-she's reluctant to reveg',and at this point she'd bush out ugly if I did let her reveg'. I had some purple widow hash for the fireworks last week, from her sisters who are reveging(I LOVE spring hash!!!esp. nederhash!). anyway; the points here are:a) hermies can make non- hermies, but for most peoples' needs(space consideration etc.) less prone strains are definitely the order of the day! b) hermie prone strains can be grown straight if not stressed. c) late herm' is not necessarily the end of the world! this last point leads me to an ongoing question for me-" if I pollinate a late herm' (e.g. trainwreck)2- 3 wks. from harvest, would that cancel the hermi cue("where's my pollen?"chemical trigger)?"...I'm pretty sure that pollinated plants don't do that(basic laws of nature). d) dramatic drop in temps can herm out one clone while her clone sister-who's acclimated to those temps finishes with no problems. e) said sister if exposedto the cold early on in veg' mode can acclimate without herming. these are obsevations from personal experience...

I'm gonna add this because it kind of falls between natural hermi and stress hermi. I just got done with a hermi prone strain that would do what most of the hermis I've seen do; late in flowering they throw a few nanners on a few buds. This is easy to deal with because they just show up on an obvious bud. I started another strain from a bag of NLx? because it was super potent and I'd been shopping for a quality NL and really hadn't heard much good about any in my $ range. They have turned out GREAT! But, from hermis come hermis and sure enough at the very end of the cycle a few of the plants threw nanners....I had 6 plants, 3 threw nanners. every one of them was underneath, in the middle of the plant and literally 1 or 2 bananas, not a whole sack, less than a whole bunch and hard as hell to see. Lucky for me I topped these and stretched out to for a better canopy and I keep the plants so small I can take them out of the box to look them over.

I do a perpetual grow so hermis have a special place of malice in my heart. I have one client who WILL call me the minute he finds a seed in his stash to tell me I don't know what I'm doing. And yet he is by far my best client~he knows that I will try to stomp out these trannys!!
