Green algae in hempy bucket?

I have a plant that I have been stalling with for a bit. Waiting for room in the flower tent.

This is a perlite hempy about 1.5gal
This is my first time growing in a red plastic Folgers can. Usually I have them in a 3 or 5 gal black bucket. Did this to keep the plant smaller.
The red plastic lets light in a bit. But didn’t think much of it.

Well this plant has developed some issues. At first I thought it was neutriant burn. So I dial my feed back from 500ppm to 300ppm. RO water*.

Things got a bit worse. Then I noticed yellowing and then tips dieing back.

Maybe potassium deficiency?

Well I thought today maybe she’s not happy in the little bucket. I’ll put it into the 5gal hempy and have a look at the roots.

Well
I have green algae on the root mass. You know the Green you get on the top of the perlite hempy from the light?
I assume it’s from the red container not being light proof.

Could this cause issues?

What do you think?

If you block all the light from getting in the bucket then the algae will die
Yeah ok. I tried with a layer of hydroton on top. The 5gal is light proof. I usually have a lid on the bucket. But I waited too long and the plant won’t fit through the hole.

I just don’t know if it’s what’s causing my issues or not. See how the next week after transplant goes. 665114B5-17AA-444A-8DAF-37AD31E26A75.jpeg

If it were lightproof, there would be no algae. Tape aluminum foil around it.

Yes I know that. I’m asking if that algae can be part of the issue I’m having.

I know when it’s on the surface it never been a problem. But never had it down on the whole roots
