Grow timers

I recently bought 2 105w Cfl's and I have just about everything to start growing. I just need help figuring out the electric part of it because I don't want to burn my house down but i need my plants to be properly lit. I was thinking of getting a timer that says 1725wattage 120volts 15 amps. On my 105w cfl's it says each one has 110-130volts. So i would have 250volts running into this timer, but only 210watts? I have a 30 foot light socket with a dual socket adapter on the end for both lights that would be plugged into the timer.
Can someone please explain what all of this shit means.:wall:

Here is a link to the timer- http://www.amazon.com/Hydrofarm-TM0...=1-2-fkmr1&keywords=grow+light+timer+250+volt

Is this piece of shit sufficient?

yes plenty. most plug in timers will work, especially for the amount of light your running.

haha i got the same one. you can get a basic timer that will work for your grow lights for like 5 bucks at walmart. cant beat that.

Volts do not work like that. As long as you can handle the amps and the watts it will be fine. Which in this case, it is.

In the US, the standard voltage is 120 volts. In Europe, the standard is 220. If you ever noticed that little tiny red switch on some desktop computer supplies - it selects from those two voltages. You cannot just switch it to get more power or anything - in the US, everything is 120 volts.

Amperage works differently, but it is still not 15 amps times the number of bulbs. However, if your circuit breaker starts to trip, then yes - you have too many amps on the circuit.

Watts - you add those up. But always the actual watts and not the "equivalent" number.
