Grow with no tent in the attic

Hi Folks, I've a small tent with a Hydro Mars that is going great!

But it's small! Super small and can it contains just one plant (tried it all, but two don't fit)

No option to buy a bigger tent due to space limitation.

So while the main girl is growing in the tent, I'm try to grow another auto flower beside the tent with my first CFL Light (took a strain very resistant to cold and extreme conditions )

I'm growing in the attic so the condition are:
  • Humid
  • Dark
  • Cold
  • Good air cycle (lot of vents)
My expectation for this second baby are low, I'm growing in a small pot (6 liter) and I think that without tent the condition will be as said pretty extreme.

Till now the first "no tent" plant is going not too bad (I'll add the photo).

Just wondering if you think this is going to work? or you see any issue i'm not considering? Any suggestions?

Also would like to have a recommendation for a better light for this external setup.

It should be:
  • Cheap (as it's not my main plant)
  • Possibly same light for both grow and flowering
  • Maybe should be an hot light, being the ambient pretty cold, it may help when switched on.
  • Consume not too much (I was thinking at something simple similar to the CFL I've but better, anyway if for any reason you think a LED or anything else would be better i would definitely consider it)

can you afford another light like a HID? like a sodium or metal halide light?. this would help with the tempriture

Thanks go go kid! I think so, what price are we talking about? I'm totally new to this, can you send me a couple of links?

I would like to buy it soon, so i can use it also for flowering the current one!

Compared to LED or CFL is the electricity usage a lot incremented with HID?

you will be ok without a boz or a new tent. you can buy some white/black plastic sheet that you can put around the plants to create a new grow room

Hope i'm not asking too much...

You know if there is any website which sell a complete HDI kit (including ballister and so on )? i'm looking around, if i find something i'll post them back to double check with you before purchase

Also what type should i get to cover both flowering and veg phases?

Sorry for noob questions.. :(

so it would cost you 3 times as much to run, but it will work as a space heater also, the bulb then acts as a grow light anda space/room heater.

oh right, i also have two of those lights, there just being used for cuttings and seedlings at the moment, but im going to use them on an autoflowering plant this winter, so we can compare how they work together

Okay great, maybe it's worth a try for me...

Will do some research today and I'll look for HDI kits to buy, will send the link of the best ones here so if you have 2 mins you can tell them if i made the right choice...

When i hear about, they are really hot.. i just wonder if there is any danger related to HDI usage, i just grow for me, it's just an hobby and I won't to have no concern XD XD

you can buy a LOW BAY or old factory lights for cheap on ebay too but i think in your loft/attic grow situation you would be better off with the type of light ive shown you.
there are also DUEL BULB ballasts, they will run both metal halide and sodium bulbs, in my opinion, metal halide is best for both veg and flower, the bulb gives off more lumins of light then sodium

you have plenty of airflow so 400w or even 600w hps would not be a problem and since you have the airflow id consider a parabolic reflector. you can easily light up at 4x4 area for $200 on amazon. 100 for a ballast, 80 for the reflector and 20 for a bulb

the light i showed her has a parabolic reflector with the set up. i think the OP is trying to cut down on the amount they spend on the light, thats why i gave them a link to the budget 400w.

but a dule light ballast is my choice of light, both sodium and metal halide, or just a 400w metal halide will work just fine. i use metal halide for flowering. you can easily pick up a 400w m/h off ebay. ebay ate cheaper then amazon.
