heat signatures

im using 2 - 400 watt lights in a basement grow , my question(s) are how visible would these be to infrared detection? with more and more people growing there own , there has become more and more attention from above , so can someone tell me what a good product to use as a heat shield ?...now when doing this obviously your going to do the ceiling of the room , but what about the walls ?...it would seem to make sense to me that if the heat is still spilling out from the sides , it's still going to be pretty detectable

Don't lose any sleep over it. They are looking for much bigger fish with many more kilowatts burning through.

^^^ Agreed. You are only using 800 watts and it is in the basement, so from above, you are probably not even visible, no more than a very small room heater.

The house will obscure the heat signal from above and heat going into the walls will go into ground and be undetectable as well. The only thing you should need to do is cover any windows you have that let daylight in. Just a piece of plywood cut to fit would be sufficient. Even if they detect it though (highly unlikely), do they think everyone who heats his basement is a grower?
