Hey I am doing an attic grow and as you can guees my biggest challenge is going to be keeping stable temps.

Attic size is 15FT Long x 6FT Wide x 10FT Height

I will be installing drywall and insulation today and likely a vent or two - vents will be at 8 FT from the ground and about 1ft x 1ft x 18inches width - one vent is going to have a fan blowing out and the other is going to be for an airconditioning unit if I can find one this size.

Main question - What kind of aircondintioner, having a hard time shopping for a good one...What kind of fans should I get for these vents..Would I be able to get a not window mounted AC and still control temps with these two vents...

Temps right now with 70 degree weather outside and attic full of junk: PEAK is 95F - Average 84F - Low Is 67 with night time temps in the 30's outside

Any recomendations much appreciated...

also I have a de-humidifier - humidity up there is about 50% - if I put this unit up there do you think it would be a safe way to drop the temps without losing to much humidity

not sure if this will help but a buddy set up an attic grow several yrs ago and was remodeling the house so he ran a 8 in heat duct down through a closet to the basement floor for a cool air intake.in the attic,he drywalled & insulated a 6x8 room and ran an heavy exhaust vent out. by drawing cool air from the basement& using a cooltube,he only had trouble cooling when outside temps were over 90 but that only limited him for 2 months out of the yr.

thanks dude, yea i was thinking to pull in cold air from underneath also...hopefully I won't need an airconditioner with this method

assuming you are in the northern hemisphere, this is a bad time to start w/ summer coming but good luck to ya.

I also did an attic grow. I built a very small room around my window a/c. My ballasts are in there and there is a panel in the part of the wall that accesses the window and a door on the end. This way the air is cooled before being taken in to all the rooms. Also, are your lights vented and hooded. This is very important in regards to temp. and full utilization of the light. I used 6 in duct fans a few inches off the ground. Get a unit with temp control and thermometer. they usually stay within 7 deg. or so from the setting. A dehumidifier won't really cool the room off, but it will drop your humidity, which you want ideally at 50-60%. That said mine's usually around 40. If you look at my post in introduce yourself you can see pics of how it works.
