watered covered with dirt put a Flou light and covered my clay pots with one hole at bottom with soil form wal mart but regular soil mxed with perlite, oh yea covered with plastic wrap, i am not sure about the watering it didnt drain out the bottom but i felt like there was plenty of water the top is kinda cold damp should i just leave it and see what happens? its only been a day or have I done something wrong? did I plant to early?

Hell no man. Sounds like you did it perfectly, actually, so nice job. Keep the soil moist, and that sprout should pop up within the next few days. Think about it- you said you planted it 1 inch deep, right? Do you expect the little thing to grow an inch in a day? Of course not. Give it some time, my friend.

I think the papertowel method is best..You can have multiple sprouts pop up at anytime, then u just pick n choose the strongest. Some say those are the males who make it out fastest but I beg to differ. Guess depends on strain type.

Yea you did good. A bit deeper than I would go, but no worries.
You shouldn't need to water it till after it sprouts and you have to take to plastic off.

pateince is a virtue!...just give it time! just dont press the soil down to hard and it should pop out just fine!

18/6 is fine. 24/0 would work fine as well, but there's no real reason to change it to that. they both work. And the plastic wrap is good, though not always necessary. Just make sure to take it off once your baby finally decides to pop its head out.

Ughhhhhhh, you shoulda germinated the seed for about 3 days. Thats how i do mine and i get excellent results. And dont put it no deeper than 1/2' under the ground. But since you put it in dirt early and planted it rather deep, dont exspect to see it for like 3-5 days man. If it is moist now then you shouldnt have to water until you can see the plant shoot out the ground. The problem with most newbs is they use wayyyyy too much water. Too much of a good thing can be bad, so just sit down and grab your fav porno, a towel, a bowl of cheeto's, 2 liter of pepsi, 1/2 ounce of weed, some papers, a few slim jims, some pizza rolls, a handfull of oatmeal cream pies, a case of beer, a pack of smokes, a bag of doughnuts, box of jellyfilled doughnuts, a bowl of cookie dough ice cream, a fork and spoon, some tabs, and now just chill. Dont bug the shit out of your plant.

How many plants are you aiming for? How many females is your goal? Seeds can and will go bad. Not sure on the shelf life. Figure in that most seeds are male anyway. Leaves only a slim margin for good female sprouts to appear. The success rate has to be around 20% for gettin good females to germinate from non-feminized seeds. Get more seeds if you can.. The old sayin goes "dont count your chickens b4 they hatch" .

Once that one sprouted, did you plant it in soil 1/2 inch deep?

And when you say they've "cracked but not growing" do you mean it's cracked but no white tap root is coming out?

Have they stayed moist the whole time?

I just cut a top of a 1 liter or 2 liter bottle, and use it as a humidity dome..
Might work a bit better then plastic wrap

An old school way to raise humidity is to fill a bathtub or large pool of water and let it evaporate. That is if the grow area is near it. Then again you might have a good natural humidity already.

I germinated my first batch on 1/27... either did it damn near perfect or have exceptional seeds. All 8 have developed and are in their permanent home. Each is between 1.75 and 2.6" from bottom of stem to leaf development. Maybe it's beginners luck, but if it helps they were each germinated at 68deg F, with a 45%RH with the moist paper towel method. Three days after starting germination they each had at least a 1/4" root out of the shell and were planted between 1/2 to 3/4" deep in their starter home. Like I said though, it could be completely beginners luck... I won't know until I try round two someday

I am having a problem with my seeds from the seed banks germing. The regular old bag seed is germing great. All of the seed bank seeds are 3 different strains and are from different banks. They will crack and show root and then never develop any further or they will never crack at all so i started germing 4 at a time. I tried germing some regular Mexican brick weed seeds as well and they are germing 90%. Is there something i might be doing wrong to kill my seeds?? And if that is so then why is the bag seed germing so well??

sticky, from what little I can claim to know some strains require higher room temp to germinate. I've heard as high as 85deg F. It could be that the strains you selected are more for experts to grow who are also tracking free CO2 as well as specific measurements of trace elements and Nitrogen. Of course they could also be junk seedbanks. What is the room temp and relative humidity in the room being germinated? I've had good luck with my little ones from Buy Marijuana Seeds and cannabis seeds from Holland - high quality marijuana seeds (cannabis seeds)

I have 2-4 seeds of each strain soaking in plastic cups of distilled water until they crack. Then i transfer them to a wet wash cloth and put the cloth in a sandwich bag until they show root. I leave the bag open and lay it in my propagation tray that has a seed heating mat under it and i have the dome on it for humidity. The tray is in a dark closet. I have everything germing in my tray. The cups soaking the seeds and the wet wash rag in the bag. I also have some in 1" rock wool cubes and rapid rooters in the tray as well. I am trying everything. So far i have had very poor results except for the regular bag seed which is a Mexican Sativa. The strains that i am trying to germ are Northern Lights x Skunk#1 By Cerce = 0 germed, Big Bud by Nirvana = one small sprout, Lowryder # 2 = crack and show root and then nothing. Those seeds came from Dr.Chronic. I just got some White ICE by White Label that came sealed in the pack from Planet Skunk. I have been soaking two of those seeds since Monday and they still have not cracked. I have some White Widow, Crystal, ICE on the way from marijuanaseeds.nl and i also have some Romulan on the way from Kindseed. I am trying all of the good seed banks. I am about freak out if i can't get some of the good strains to germ soon. I have spent a shit load of cash with very poor results. I have even tried soaking the seeds in some distilled water with some Liquid Carma.

How long are you waiting before giving up? it can take up to 12 days, and it usually takes 3 or 4 days to get a decent sized tap root. but it can take 12 days just to crack, and how long it takes doesn't reflect anything about the quality of the seed/plant, so be patient

Your methods sounds fine. I am curious what the temperature is though. And if they ever dry out during the process, they probably will just die.

And what do you mean the lowryders "cracked and showed root and then nothing"...that's all that germinating does...they crack and they show root, then you have to actually plant them, so that statement confuses me.
