Hi I'm new to growing

Hi I'm new to growing and stumbled across this thread from @Lemon king. The guy in nute shop said something similar to how you cure. He said put in black bucket 4 hours. Then back to dry again then back in bucket 4 hours wait till dry again. Then back in bucket for 6 hours. Should be dried/cure by now. Do you tie the black bags shut? Your post is about 9 years old. Do you still do it this way ? Thanks

There's much simpler ways to dry and cure your harvest. Do some searching here and you can get a good picture of what works for you. I know zero growers that dry and cure using the method you talked about but there might be some it works for. It just seems like a totally unnecessary process. Look at some Grove bags and just do a proper long dry at the right conditions.

I just harvested my first grow - grew in soil under a 450 led .. I dried at 60/60 rh and temp then put into glass jars for a week then into grove bags.. but the bud as lost all its smell and taste like shit! I struggled with that method and don't want shit tasting and smelling bud.. where did I go wrong?

It's much easier to help you when you actually give us facts about how you grew
Strain
Lights
Temps and humidity day/night
Chop day (from flipping lights to 12/12)
Medium
A few pictures of close up bud and full plant under regular lights (not crazy blurple)

When you really want good answers give good info and you might figure out what's causing the issue

If I had to guess I'd say you harvested early

I grew in a 1.2x1.2 tent
Using Dutch pro nutrients ( bloom a b - Silicia - multi total - explode - take root - bud candy
Temps in flowering was 24c lights on 18c lights off some times could be as low as 6c lights off.
Humidity in flower was around 50 percent
And grew in soil.
I flowered them for 9.5 weeks from flip. Moneky jardin fan
Spider farmer exhaust

2 x blue cheese
2x gorilla zkittles - Barney's farm

Can't see the original post but yes, "burping your jars" is what your describing and yes I still do it.... if you grow a decent amount bags are much easier then jars!....I full plant hang till dry (when large/medium stems are at the point of snapping) then dry trim, burp in bags/jars, I used to final manicure at this point but as I schmoke it all, I skip this step....

I have also left bags of dry trimmed bud without burping and they still stink and smoke great, but im set in my ways now lol...

If someone harvests perfectly ripe, terpy bud, the one thing that usually destroys the terps is heat when drying (under 70 is usually fine). If someone does a proper slow dry with controlled temps and RH, and the bud comes out tasteless, then I doubt it was ripe to begin with or terpy enough to begin with. Most people harvest prematurely, especially new (and newish) growers

Dont make drying over-complicated. Hang till dry.
Try to keep your humidity around 60 with good air circulation.
Hey Boatguy, I used your method (i think it was yours) and I used the Turkey bag method to slowly inch em down to 62% then jarred em w a 58 pack (my preference) and hygrometer….. beautiful! Worked like a champ!!! Easy-peazy

I’m wondering, once youve got them dialed in where you want them and jarred or bagged, whatever, how often, if you do, do you “burp” those jars or bags and for how long for adequate air exchange and for how long, days, weeks, .. do you burp???
