So , we run dual 600w air-cooled hoods. Eye or Ushio 600w HPS.

We normally have the pair covering a 6' 6 " x 3' 6" space very nicely, the space touches 3 walls painted flat white. Normally run 6 to 10 squat girls , lots of training. This flower area is within a 8' x 10' room within a room. Very good air movement and exchange. Room on average runs on the dry and cooler side the majority of the year. 45-55 rh / 68-74° f

So now , we would like to bench the 600w hps and try a single HLG 350R to cover a 3' x 3' table.
( Coco dtw ) 2 - 4 plants.

The PPFD chart on the HLG website shows a square map HLG claims the 350R covers a 3' x 5' area the independent chart they provide is a 4x4 square?? I've read quite a few posts that explain this LED is perfect in a 2' x 4' tent which is a rectangle.

I want to cover a 3'x3' area adjacent to two walls with a portable wall flanking the third side leaving one side open for fans. ( NO TENT ! ) 3 WALLS COVERED IN FLAT WHITE IN A OPEN ROOM.

My area 3x3 fits inside their advertised 3x5 @ 15" Flowering. ( replaces a 600w)
This lite will be used exclusively for flowering. We use t5's in a 4x4 for mammas and clones.

Can anyone with experience with the 350R give me their experience with this light and give opinions on what we intend to utilize it for.

Thank you

Side note...

We really wanted the "DIABLO 650R " but we are not ready to spend a grand on a experiment. Second was a pair of 350R's , again , too much $ for a first go with LED's Third was a 600R which is still on the table but a few hundred more than the 350r.

Thanks again and appreciate everyone who contributes to answering.

I'm still in holding mode after @Lordhooha 's pointing out the Fohse a3i light bar. Every time I get ready to buy in they make a large jump. One thing that's sure, the longer you wait the better price and performance you will get. I'm fine with that as I have a fine functioning HID setup. But I'm looking forward to making the move and hearing the feedback you get.

Good deal , Thanks .. sharing knowledge!

I picked up an HLG 350r Diablo 4 months ago and am in love with it. I have it in a 4x2x5.7 Guerilla Grow tent, which it absolutely blows out with light. I haven't yet exceeded 60% light with plants. The 350r is very efficient, even at 100% the driver just gets warm. Powerful Samsung LM301H 3000k, 5000k as well as Samsungs more powerful LM351H Deep Red 660nms.

The plants in my tent are growing far quicker than all the others. Many more nodes with minimal stretch. I really like HLGs spectrum on the Diablo and R series. Best lights I've ever used by far. Completely blow away my previous Viparspectra quantum boards.

The 350R, after a closer look at the PPFD map covers a 3x3 well, when hung at 15"

Three 350R would cover the 6'6" x 3'6" space well

Otherwise, the 600Rspec is an good option also.

I picked up an HLG 350R and an AC Infinity 3x3 tent... And an HLG 550R and a AC Infinity 4x4. Both were immaculate refurbs and I got an additional 15% off, there was no better deal anywhere. Love these lights man, glad to see you repping HLG, you were the one that turned me onto the Diablo Boards with your DIY build/grows. Cheers Pop.

Oh I wish I knew how to put together those DIY kits. Not that I really need the extra light. However seeing the DIY QB648 Diablo boards around I'm thinking of taking some classes at the local JC to learn how to solder and put these boards together.
The 350r Diablo is intensely bright. Like seeing spots after looking at the LEDS when cranked up bright.
Would really love to acquire a couple HLG B- spec veg Q-boards.

If you're on the fence about getting an HLG, Do it! They really do live up to the hype and actually exceeded my expectations in terms of growth and plant shape.

I agree with the other guys, grab the HLG 350! Experiment with it. Play around dimming it and messing with the height to get it just right for your space. Or consider going to a rectangular footprint to take advantage of the light.

You're going to love this thing! After the first experimental grow ditch that other HPS and grab a second 350r. Then you'll have a light situation even more bad ass than the 650.

If you're new to LED consider a cell phone PAR meter app or a cheap LUX meter you can convert to PAR to get your light hung correctly. You don't want to burn your plants.

Diy kits are a doddle to be put together, no soldering needed, just peel a cable and stick it in the connector. My first build was with 0 experience (though a fair bit of reading) and over 2 days we built lighting for 60 sqft.

I cannot stress how satisfying it is to do the whole work and design yourself, multiply that unboxing feeling by 100x.
