How Do You Store Pot?

Roseman

Alright, I have 15 and a half ounces, my largest harvest, and only smoke two ounces a month.
I read everything in GROWFAQ but there is not much there on SAVING or STORING pot, AFTER it is cured. I've kept pot in the freezer for months and it seems to diminish in potency after a month or two. Is refrigeration better than freezing it? I want to keep this pot 6 months, so how should I store it? OR is storing it for more than a month or two not a good idea?

The way I was told to do it is to pick up some airtight mason jars from say Wallyworld or something.
Then stuff them full and stick them in the freezer.

If the bud starts to dry out way too far chuck a piece of orange peel in there and give it a day or so.

Thanks, Zombi, I do have it in wide mouth Quart Jars now, 24 of them. That is how I cured it after I dried it, I just don't want it to lose potency now. And I wondered if I ought to put it in baggies, then put the baggies in jars?

The baggie inside the jar is what I did but only because I have a couple different types in small quantities in the same jar.
If I had a lot of the same stuff though I would go without the baggie. But thats just me.

I have used the same method as zombi. Cheap and easy. Mason jars for kind or add baggies for different types. I make sure to store the jars in my closet to keep it cool.
Zombi, good idea with the orange peel. I'll give it a try some time.

airtight and in freezer.

I have heard to dry then, cure in a mason jar in the fridge and then put in airtight bag or container in the freezer.

When I say airtight that means preferably vacum sealed.

The air and light will diminish the thc content.

Once it is frozen for awhile and you thaw it, Will it be moist again and require drying and curing? Or can you just thaw and smoke? What is the best way to thaw it out?

Wide mouth mason jars, vacuum seal, put in dark cool place, check seals every month to make sure they are still good.

If you put anything in the jars make sure it doesn't cause mold to grow. It usually doesn't but can and will eat up that yummy bud. So just keep an eye on it. Orange peel has been what I have heard most people use.

how many plants

what light how many watts?

The 3 plants vegged with 4 85 watt spiral CFLs bulbs total, then I bought 7 more 85 watt and 6 42 watt, mixed high and low kelvins for full spectrum.

For Flowering, I had :
One plant = Two 85 watt bulbs and two 42 watt bulbs =64 grams of dried buds. she stayed short!
One Plant =4 85 watt bulbs and 2 42 watters = 169 grams. she got 30 inches tall.
Best plant = 5 85 watts, & 4 42 watts = 193 grams, she got 54 inches tall.

I owe the good harvest to something fdd2blk said in a thread back in Janaury.
he said
"Pot Plants are not meant to VEG for two weeks and then be thrown into Flowering. It is like children having babies. Naturally, outdoors, pot will Veg 8 to 12 weeks."
So my seed sprouted Jan 14, I went to partial dimished lights March 14th, and full 12/12 March 20th. (that gradually going to 12/12 is crap and a BIG waste of time)
On March 20th, I added the extra lights, concentrating most of them on one plant, on my best plant. I raised the lights up about 18 inches from the plant and she grew 3 or 4 inches a day, and she got 54 inches tall! Yep, Indica too. Her sisters were 20 inches and 30 inches tall, same age, less light, no stretching.
After a week of stretching the one plant, I moved the lights back to 2 to 3 inches away.
I got two Big colas, and 5 or 6 big buds and a hundred fluff buds an inch to two inches long off of the one plant.
I will never do sea of green again, that is for small space and fast grows. Next time I will stretch them to heaven before going to 12/12.

I replaced all the bulbs in my house with CFLs when I first started growing. I started growing when winter came in, and when I was starting to use the central heat, My bill did not go up, it stays the same all year round..

I flowered with Spiral CFLS, but I had one plant with only two bulbs,a nd one plant with 4 bulbsa nd one plant with 9 bulbs.

I vegged from Jan 14th to March 20th.

When I first started Flowering, all three plants were about 20 inches tall and very bushy.

I use Mason Jars. IMO if you check your drying bud frequently and catch it at *just* the right moment you need no orange peel (shades of mexican brickweed and the 70's!) or any other humidity producer to keep the bud fresh over time.

Example: A friend of mine told me the other day what he was smoking... and it was some 2 year old "Lemon Thai" I grew in the Spring of 2005! I sealed it up and he said he hadn't touched it since....and he said it was still VERY tasty...and even more *lemonish* tasting than before...

Use glass. Plastic/plasic bags attract the trichs and you cannot rescue em. If you lose trichs in a glass jar you can use iso alcohol to wash it out with and end up with some tasties...

short term storage/transfferral is best carried out wth Foodsaver bags. however, I think pot goes flat/funky in these bags if left over a long period of time. Anyone else notice this?

good luck

I read about a guy that had like 25 Lb. of grass he put into ammo cans and buried underground- suppossedly he dug some up like 17 years later and it was still good.

Start diggin' !

I believe Foodsaver containers would work great and the foodsaver bags would also be outstanding- no air. Time stands still when you seal those things. I think you could use the foodsaver bads and not have to worry about a freezer(for safety) although freezer is probably great too.
