How does low humidity affect a grow?

Ok, I am just in the planning stages of my indoor hydroponics garden.

I live in the desert and like it hot and dry. My plants probably have other ideas. My normal preference is for the air above 90 degrees in my place. Yeah, I know, I am twisted. Anyway....

I am going to use a 2' x 4' x 6' tent set up in a closet for the flowering stage. Because I do not want to bring the whole place down to 70-80 (Brrr) to make my plants happy I am considering buying a small A/C unit of approximately 8000 BTU's and placing it in a bathroom of 5'x5' and cooling that area.

From there I plan to run a 4" fresh air pipe from the ceiling exhaust vent through the ceiling of the closet and into the tent. I will install an inline fan to provide the airflow.

The tent will exhaust into the closet where the tent is and the mother plants\clones will be growing.

Now, the humidity in the area is typically between 15 & 30. I am wondering if that is too low and if I should consider adding a humidifier to the setup.

Does anyone who is used to growing in a hot and dry climate have any suggestions?
