how long for signs of budding to appear.

im well aware that when your plant hits a 12/12 light cycle or the days shorten that your plant will start to flower but i was wondering how long until you start to see the white hairs forming and create a bud ive had my plant in a 12/12 cycle now for a week and i am just curious. And yes i am a first time grower.

They stretch mostly for the first couple of weeks, you'll see some hairs probably in the next few days. Small buds will start forming 2nd or third week. All of this depends on strain of course.
