How many COB watts for each plant please?

Probably more like 50w/ft with those crappy cobs. Interesting that his 6 100w cobs draw 310W. ;-)
And it's a 4 year old thread.

Hate to rock the boat or upset the cart. 4 years under 800W actual in 4x4. 2 years with 400W in same with LM 3528 supplemental @ 160W. 50W / sq. ft. was max yield and lumens. Just me. But a fact on my end. Hope it helps. 002.jpg

Actual draw on 6 100w bridgelux cobs is 54w.
I showed pics of the grow and the end product. I think maybe you guys are going overboard on the amount of lights you're putting in your rooms or tents.
The point of using LEDs is to save money on electricity and to rely on the light output and concentration.

I am absolutely growing in a 3x12 space with three 100w bridgelux DOB's.
Fan cooled, no lens, no filter, 12-18" height. 2 identical areas. 15 number 5 pots each side.

Sorry, the previous draw I posted was with fans and other stuff plugged in.

Actual draw on lights alone is 54w.

98cri, 82,800lm total.

2,300lm sqft= more than enough. This does not include any light bleed from the other grow area. Although not concentrated, still makes a difference in lm received by the plants.
Overkill on the amount of lights is one thing but wasting money is another. Using more light than your plants can use is clearly a waste of money.

Let me get this straight, 5x50 watts = 250 watts. 250/16 sqft = 15.6 watts per sqft. That seems like about half the power really required to grow good weed using even the best LED's I have seen. I would wanna be in the 30-356 watts per sqft range.
Lm, lx are under more consideration more so than w. Light distribution also plays a big role. Don't let w rating tie you in

Min baseline is around 2000lm sqft. to grow good weed.

Sure lumen sent ment to mean anything that’s what the human eye can see there’s a lot that we can’t

Those "Nukehead" generic Chinese COB lights can definitely grow weed, but between the cost of electricity(they are 40lm/watt!!!!! according to an actual test report I have on them) and the cost of cooling them; its just not worth it.

I used 450 actual watts of them in my recent auto grow and got about 1 pound(less than 1g/watt) and I had to leave the roof off the chamber because it would overheat too badly if I didn't. I'm pretty sure my Philips Mastercolor CMH runs significantly cooler than those COBs do. The only saving grace for those driverless COB chips is that the new ones are dimmable. For the money though they are a complete waste. You would be so much better off buying mid-power SMD strips like Bridgelux EB strips or one of Samsung's gazillion options, and you'd be even better off still with a good HLG light.
