How do I store pollen to use for back crossing? I was wondering if a pill bottle stored in the freezer would work? How long is pollen viable for if I just kept the pill bottle in a drawer?
I collect it and let it dry out for a day or two. I put it in a folded piece of paper and place in very small container with rice added to absorb moisture. Could last up two 2 years in freezer or fridge, but will decline in viability over time.
I was planning on lettinig one of my girls go past flower and grow nuts to collect the female gene (only) pollen. Timely thread on storing it, thanks. S
Nothing special. I use a sifter that I already had in the kitchen. Main concern is to get out plant matter... it's mostly bigger than anything used for cooking.
