How to Clone a Difficult Strain

So after having great success cloning just about anything i finally found a strain that is extremely difficult to clone, here's what i have tried

1) heating pad + temp controller set to between 76-80F
2) T5 light with 6500k bulb
3) varying light cycles (24/0 , 18/6)
4) using rooting hormones
5) using humic acid and kelp
6) Humidity dome , closed and sealed (it's nice and steamy on the sides)

Any advice would be great because even with all those mentioned this one strain still has a 3-4 week cloning time and 10-20% success rate. Thanks.

Air layering? Basically instead of cutting the clone off just peel a bit of the outer layer off. Soak some soil in rooting solution and apply around the stem with plastic. Keep moist and when you see roots cut the clone off and plant.

We used to do this on Hawaii to preserve rare/endangered native plants. We packed the cut with sphagnum moss and wrapped it up in tinfoil. sealing the edges. This allowed you to open/close easily for inspection before cutting off the mother.

It doesn't matter the strain. it will work 95% of the time because the plant clone is not separated from the mother till it has roots.

care to elaberate? do you tape those on or something? my mother is really big and tall, nothing growing near the bottom of the container at all.

I might try this, you said wrap a plastic bag around a scraped area and put some rooting gel on the scraped area and then enclose with black plastic bag + some dirt? So like a clone on the plant? How do i know when to cut it off and where do i take the cut? Thanks bro.

Alright take an easter egg an cut\ drill a hole in it where it connects so that u can clamp it over the branch u r trying to clone.
Fill the egg with dirt then on the branch u want to clone put a little cloning gel were u want to put the egg.take the egg and clamp it over the spot u put the cln gel.
U may need to put tape on the egg to keep it closed and or put something under the egg if the branch isnt strong enough to support the egg after a few days u may need to add water to the egg i use a syringe and squirt it in the saftey holes at the top of the egg.after one to two weeks the egg should be full of roots if u mess up and cut the egg off to early and dont have any roots just dip it in rooting gel and put in dirt the way u normaly do u should still have better sucess rates because the cln has a headstart on starting roots

This is awesome! I have 3 strains I've been cloning.
C+ from dinafem clones super easy.
Money maker from them does also.
But og kush is a no go.. ive tried and tried. I actually started 25 new seeds today because I'm ready to flower the mother and say fuck trying to clone her anymore.

But I will give this a try first!

I was taught this method by a crafty old hippie he would sell clones at a local farmer market style dispenserie but could only have 12 plants so to maximize his profit hed put as many eggs as he could fit on his mothers and cut the eggs off as he sold clones

Basically like the guy with the eggs. Put it where ever you would normally cut. It needs to be wrapped in a way that you can check it and keep moist. Just check every so often and when you see roots just cut below the roots.

Scrape above where you plan to cut an inch or two. Or enough room for the roots.

Uncle Ben made a tutorial thread a while back on air layering. Loads of pages and info. You can find it via search.
I have crap luck with cloning via domes and pucks.
Have you looked into buying or building a bubble cloner?
Also there's the old cup of water trick. It works.

I never took clones before now I wondering if I chose the rite plant as I did og kush I have 16 at the moment two weeks in an seam ok though. But it's early ! How quick did did it take for them to die ?

I've finally had some luck!
At first they were dying or looking super crappy anyway at around 1.5-2 weeks.
I stopped using my spray cloner which was keeping Rockwol copies too wet, and started using my old dome with the little self watering mini dime inside of it, and I had every ogk clone pop roots out within 2.5 weeks..
I have the dome under the 600w hps too.
I think that helps to keep the temp up..

I switched to rapid rooters and cut 10 clones of ogk last week.. I'm going to see how they work.

this is them so far I have slight yellowing of a couple of leaves but seem ok

So for no fail hard to clone etc plants...of which there are some that are a straight up bitch to clone successfully...this is simple and I have 100% success with all strains....just fill a dixie cup full of promix (whatever) make sure it is a damp mix before it goes in the cup...pack lightly and stab hole in center deep...now take ur cutting...bigger cuts work here too...strip like 3 inches of foliage and dip in hormone...stick into pencil hole push soil against stem of cutting...put in a big clear plastic bin...put a heat pad on low under clear bin...mist the clear walls of the bin with water...put lid on and set near 24 hr light source...you will see roots come out of bottom of cup at the holes u cut in them...1-2 weeks...sometimes 3 for stubborn cuts...after the first5 - 7 days start cracking the lid but watch for wilting..when the lid comes off and they don't wilt your good and plant will start stacking with new growth..
Normally I use rapid rooter type plugs...simple, quick, but for something tricky or set n forget...above method works everytime..
