How to preve light leaks in portable closte??

I have a a tan colored cloth maerial portable closet with a zipper .... i have my plant on 24/0 for 2 weeks since seed and my question is .. when my plant starts to flower and it put it on 12/12 lights how do i prevent light leaks in my closet . i curently have emergency blankets (mylar) tapes on the inside ... i was thinking black garbage bags??? Any input wud be great thaks

Covering the outside in some type of plastic that is light proof should give you what you want. Make sure it overlaps the zipper as well. If you cannot see any light coming from inside of it when the lights are on, more than likely, none will get in as well.

imo, people get all freaked out over hearing that a grow must be entirely pitch black for flowering or you'll have a room full of hermie plants..

ime, this is so far from the truth it's not even funny.. i've been growing in a small closet for about 5 years now, and often times i leave the door open to keep temps in check.. my grow is so far from light proof it's not even funny to say the least.. i've grown all sorts of beans from regular to feminized, and not once have i seen a hermie plant in my grow.. never..

i think breeders like to say things have to be pitch black in an effort to take blame away from their hermie genetics and put the blame on inexperienced growers who believe anything breeders say..

again, just my $.02 and experience.. take it for what you will..

Agreed pitch black isn't needed but a translucent tan portable Walmart closet isn't going to be light tight enough unless it's in a dark room. My tent grows have always been in a pretty dark room, but not always dark, with open vents and i haven't had a light hermie either. Like legally said panda film or thick black contractor trash bags would do fine...

I suggested panda on the inside as tan cloth....probably not the most reflective material out there

Is it harder to hermie a male plant than it is female? For science sake I have been stress testing a male with irregular/unnatural light for weeks with no changes.

I don't know but I suspect there is considerably less experience with hermaphroditism in males because growers rarely let them grow long enough to develop the trait.

Careful about playing with boys in your basement.. that is if you are letting them mature. Pollen is very very light and will quickly pollinate your girls
