How to tell if a light has gone bad in a HPS setup

im currently using a 400w MH conversion bulb on my setup. I just went to turn the light on and the light hasnt come on yet. The inside of the bulb has lit up but then goes back out. I switched the bulb to my HPS bulb and it came on fine. Does this mean my MH conversion bulb has blown? its brand new only been on for maybe 78 hours tops. feedback plz?

common someone has to know something. I have tried both my HPS and MH bulbs and neither actually start up with light when i plug the system up. Iv let it sit for like 5-10 minutes and nothing any ideas on what it could be? I did notice the ballast isnt making as loud of a humming noise now as it did when the lights where coming on.

Sounds to me like your ballast got fried somehow and isnt putting enough wattage to the bulb to fire it up. If you bought it recently call up the people you bought it from
